Hi,
those pics were posted in a modelling forum a couple of months ago, and they were taken a few weeks before, IIRC:

Very sad news. Life can be so unfair sometimes…..
All my thoughts are with you and your family.
Laurent.
Thanks for your help, Mike.
Hello BlueNoser352,
The Mustangsmustangs forum is one of my favorite also, but I wanted to post here first as the airframes are still supposed to be in the U.K. at the moment, I thought I could be luckier here, which is not the case unfortunately.
In fact, I’m living a few miles north of Paris. Let me know when you come, if you are interested to see a BLUE Avro Lancaster 😀
Cheers,
Laurent
I have seen photographs showing substantial intact parts from the original aircraft.
May we know what are those parts?
TIA
Laurent
“The head of the P-51 design team was Raymond Rice but the Chief Designer was Edgar Schmode (? spelling), a Bavarian German who emigrated to America in 1930. Edgar Schmode was an original member of the Willi Messerschmitt design group.”
Hi Dave,
In fact, Edgar Schmued left Germany for Brazil in 1925, then to the USA in 1930. He was never part of Willy Messerschmitt design group.
HTH,
Laurent
If my information is correct, the Dominican Air Force last Mustang sortie was on May 19th, 1984.
Sorry for the delay getting back to you, gents.
Good guess NC900
Seems like this movie was broacasted on satellite tv last year, which is strange enough since the original rolls of this movie are reputed to be locked in a safe somewhere, but obviously, there are some copies around.
Anyway, the movie is very different from the book, but if you have not read it, then the movie is fine. Too bad they could not have Tempests for the second part. Spits used in the movie were coming from groupes de chasse Nice and Provence, and it was shot in 1949. Funny thing is that they also painted bogus serial number on the Spits, and changed most of the characters’ names, execpt for Commandant Mouchotte.
Let’s hope the guy who owns the rights will decide to release it someday.
Thanks for your interest, gents.
Cheers,
Laurent
In fact, there is a very strong connection with a french ace
but several Spits received the “JF” markings

Any idea why it was done?
Hi,
Inceredible recovery, I hope we’ll see more pictures in the next days.
Just found this picture showing how it looked before taking a 60 years long bath

looks like the signature is that of Paul Mc Duffie, her first pilot.

Laurent – you’re a star – thanks very much for these. The eastern front one doesn’t seem to be there though?
Oooops, made a typo. That’s corrected now.
Thanks 😉
