Delta Jets fly more vintage jet sorties than any other UK operator (250+) so I would think that there is a very good chance that you will see at least one of the Hunters. There are not many days go by where they don’t generate at least one sortie T7 Hunter, WV372, was up bashing the circuit today.
Albert – Fokker 50 is in for scrapping, but don’t ask the reg coz’ I haven’t got a clue. But could easily find out if you want me to?
Dees – maths was never my strong point…… web site is on your PM
I don’t think ‘372’s owners would go for that some how, Mark
You lot do realise we are only talking about the smaller open day scheduled for September and not the full Kemble airshow normally held in June?
Well said that man……………………….
In addition to all the above the Flying Display list at the moment includes Tornado F3, Hawk, Pitts Special, Spitfire, Xtreme Team, Piston Provost, Vampire (tbc) & Miles Messenger.
The event will have the same layout as the recent Air Day but on a slightly reduced scale with all the usual attractions. All participating aircraft will again operate from the South Side of the airfield within the main public area. There is not a specifc theme for the show as has been previously stated, but it replaces the Delta Jets Open Day in the Kemble Events programme and will still get their support and feature all of their jets at some stage or another during the day.
This may require another thread but do you not think that the quest for knowledge has spoilt the anticipation factor at airshows?
I have been going to shows since the late 60’s (am now fortunate to run my own) but until the WWW came into being you never knew what you would see at a airshow. Would you not rather turn up at a show and see something stunning that you had no knowledge of before hand? Surely this is half the excitement? Or would you like to know exactly what happens at a given time for the whole day.
There are pros and cons for each argument but it would be nice to get a feel for general opinion as we organisers do get slagged off for things that don’t appear or were never likely to appear in the first instance.
Over to you………………..
We have a new site layout this year which should please most people. Hope you like it?
From what I’ve heard it’ll be good for the public and the photogs, not so good for the line crew, although I’ll reserve judgement on that till I’ve seen the line in action.
By the way, Glen, have you heard, VETA has finally airtested!! So an she be included in the flypro now, please??
Dees
Yes, saw her yesterday being thrown around a bit by Cubes. Full air test, no snags…………gotta take my hat off to Delta again and that sound she makes is awesome.
Could be an interesting finale with all Hunters now serviceable and the question mark almost lifted from Miss D?
Good luck 😀
I ‘m gonna need it…………………..
Gates will open at 0900L
I will be their, please note, the organisers are only opening one entry point at the moment and that’s through the main gate, so get their early, although we don’t seem to have that much trouble with traffic.
I wish you would’nt say things like that Nige, I just hope that we do not get the problems that Cosford & Duxford have experienced lately. There will always be some people that get held up in the queues and you just try to do the best you can.
All entrance will be via the Main Gate at the Security Lodge. As G-CVIX will be occuping Gate 12, there will only be one entry point. We have a new site layout this year which should please most people. Hope you like it?
Couple of pics that Janie might just be interested in. One is from “JJ”s last visit to Kemble after participating at G-VFWE. Second was on a superbly bright December morning.
Peter will be displaying “JJ” at Kemble on the 20th of this month. He is a real gentleman and always suppports any event that he can at our airfield by bringing one of his unique historic aeroplanes.
I seem to remember it being ‘Kemble Tower’ before the licence, I am sure that Glen could clear this one up.
Licensing has little to do with the type of air traffic service at smaller airfields. Kemble used to be “Kemble Radio” which denotes that it is only an Air/Ground station. We changed to “Kemble Information” which pilots will know offers a flight information service, around a year or more prior to the airfield being licensed.
It is possible to have a licensed runway at an airfield offering only an A/G service I believe? 😮
Doesnt count as what??
Its a Hunter its ex Swiss its as rare as a healthy Burger King and its flying.
I say bring it on.
Absolutely……………and they will be flown by the same 2 Swiss pilots that performed the routine at Kemble last time, Ueli Leutert and Paul Ruppiener.
G-HVIP is a Swiss T68 ex J4208 and will be the aircraft used with Papyrus.
Pull your finger out then Dunc!!!!!!
