She should be ready to make her debut at Kemble on June 15th.
Whatever you say about the colour of the Sea Vixen will make no difference to the fact that the maketing men have done a good job.
1 They got you talking about it!
2 You all know what Red Bull is now!
Now all I want you to do is come to Kemble to see it on June 15th with all the other classics and enjoy the spectacle.
Believe I am correct in saying that their Javelin will be complete and on display at RIAT along with a shiny new coat of paint!
Loads happening, 318 & 372 flying regularly, Gnat XS102 just completed a first air test, purchased a JP to help ease the introduction of the Hunter to our students. One Hunter just about ready for it first air test in 30 years and another (G-VETA) that should be ready soon after a rewire.
We have had a few problems with the web-site, we still own http://www.deltajets.com and it is to be relaunched in the next 3-4 weeks. We currently have airshow bookings for Abingdon, Waddington, RIAT, Middle Wallop, Brize Norton, Leuchars amongst others and not forgetting Kemble.
Hows that for starters!
Because they are both still MOD aircraft!
Spot on David and no the CAA have not yet accepted the type for a “permit to fly”. We obtained a “permit to test” last year for the flights in the UK before export to SA.
Bucc’s have no manual reversion for the flying controls, they are all hydraulically / electrically powered. i.e there are no rods, pulleys or cables to enable the aircraft to be flown without the aid of the aircrafts systems.
RE: Shorts Belfast
This was also taken at Kemble around the same time.

RE: Shorts Belfast
Bit of Belfast nostalgia, when the squadron was disbanded at Brize all the Belfasts were sent to Kemble for storage until sold and were such a familiar sight that their parking area is still known as the “Belfast Pan”.

RE: Airshows Past
Do you think the general public would turn out for a Warbird based show in the South / South West?
RE: PRO at Kew.
You can get all the info you want without even setting foot in the PRO. They will (for a cost) print you off as many copies you need of a document providing you know the pro ref no (i.e. AIR27/???, AVIA18/???),post them to you and send you an invoice or you can pay by credit card.
Done this myself a few times and as long as it is not reams of paper invloved it is still cheaper than using your own or any other form of transport. You just miss out on the experience of actually getting your hands on the documents written at the time of the event.
Hope this helps
RE: So, what will be the must see shows next year?
Kemble will be the place to be on June 15th 2003…………..But I am rather biased.
RE: Science Museum annex at Wroughton
The only drawback at Wroughton if the fact that they have stated that they do not want anymore aviation related “events” at the airfield. Hence the reason the G-VFWE and the PFA rally moved. Several promotors have approached them to use the site for aviation and they have all met with the same unfortunate response, which seem difficult to understand when they have the science museum lage aircraft collection on-site…..very strange!!!
Gnat gear as air brakes
Ant,
Just to confirm that all 3 undercarriage are used as airbrakes. There is a lever in the cockpit that allows the gear to be set at the mid point as well as fully down. I have a couple of A-A pics detailing this if you wish me to send them to you?
RE: RE Kennet’s New Base ?
Yes, Kennet are re-locating to North Weald from Cranfield for the same reason that the PFA rally is moving to Kemble. There is some major development work about to start at Cranfield and this involves the area where Kennets hangar is.
