Enjoyed the program, very clever build. Didn’t like the continued reference to the Battle of France Spitfire dug out of a French beach as it’s a replica Spitfire not a restoration.
Great program but totally bonkers idea!! I wonder if it was ever completed?
Just had a thought….are there any traces of paint left on the underside?? Would love to chat some more about my DO17 relic and Hellblau!!!! 😉

I don’t normally get involved in discussions on here, but would just like to say….”Who cares what it cost”!!!!
Its a near complete Dornier 17 shot down during the Battle of Britain. The closest any of us have got to that is a bag of fragments with dodgy history on a stall at Shoreham!!
What a fantastic thing, and i’m sure by the time RAFM have finished with it, it will be a superb exibit to be enjoyed by generations to come.

Thank you Andy.If I can post a picture of the Disc I have, would you be able to identify where it came from.It has no markings on it.It has a red button in the middle with a screw underneath. The button is red and the screw has a red line painted across it.It is actually 3.5 inches across not 6 inches as I posted earlier.Nothing like being accurate is there?
Is it possible to obtain a copy of the ‘K’ Report?
Be prepared for a lengthy discussion on the paint colour of your relic……..:D
I can add something re the scrap yard. It was actually situated on the Royston side of Duxford airfield at a place called Thriplow, alongside the main A505. The site is still there today as a Recycling plant and reconditioned car parts dealership.
I once owned a HE111 Control Column that came from this scrap yard, which is photographed in the auction catalogue i have from when all the parts were sold off by the scrap yard owner. I still have the Catalogue, so your U/C leg could well be listed, although i doubt it will help with the identification any further?
The same sale also included Salamander parts and a complete JU88 Instrument panel, as well as 109 Main Wheels, plus Wellington and Halifax control columns to name but a few.
Anyway, if your interested let me know and i will dig it out to see if your 109 part is listed.

I donated the Navigators Canopy many years ago. Nice to see it perched on the remains, and will form part of the rebuild 🙂
Really enjoying this series and good to see some of my old “digging” mates.
So where did that stunning RR engine plate end up Andy?
Is it Halifax?? Late covering on the Yoke, top of column looks the wrong shape and the shaft itself is very thin i feel?
One of them looks right, don’t know what the other one is
Dakota or Hudson?
The Lanc type one has the later covering so more likely Lincoln i think?
So you don’t know then!
Thanks anyway guys.
Oh, I had much more fun sorting out the garden shed!!!
Had tickets, wish I’d gone!
Can’t do it all. 😡
I hope P9374 looked pretty?
I bet the contents of Andys shed is more interesting then most!!
Its a badge, 52mm high with a pin and hook back.
Thanks
Richard
This was presented to a Vet during one of the early reunions at the Airfield. Comes off a Willys Jeep.
It was too big for the Vet’s hand luggage so now hangs in my Jeep workshop 🙂

Spitfire 1 P9374 looks stunning. Someone should write a book about it!
And sorry…but how can you put P40’s, Furys or indeed anything else in front of a Mk1 Spitfire??? (Unless of course it’s a Mk1 Hurricane ;))
