    Tunes to Fly to!!!!!

    😎
A year or so ago at the Waddington Airshow a display was given by a Nimrod and the music played over the PA was Elgars “Nimrod” it fitted into the display superbly. Great stuff as I am both an aircraft enthusiast and a classical music man. Lets have more of this at airshows as it gives a further dimention to the flying
    Anyone agree!!!!!

    Base Air Depot USAF

Can someone explain the meaning and duty of a “Base Unit” in USAAF WW2 organization?
    Avi[/QUOTE]

These Units had a major function to prepare new aircraft for combat units.
Bomber aircraft flown across the north or south atlantic ferry routes normally arrived in the UK at Prestwick or St.Mawgan, St.Eval and Valley. They were then ferried to a Base Air Depot for inspection and modification if facilities were overloaded, to a storage airfield Greencastle, Mullaghmore, Toome and Langford Bridge.
A full write up on these units can be found in “Mighty Eighth War Manual” by Roger Freeman on pages 138/140.

Just think – if you hand started your engine you would “flick” it anti clockwise consequently your starter is turning it correctly.
I am not quite sure of your comment re the cone!
This is usually referred to as a “Spinner” the important thing is to make sure that the crankshaft nut is fully tightened.
If I can be of further help please advise.

One of the big problems you may encounter is that of a “Flying Field” as you need permission from the local council to even use a grass field (change of use).
Being a Club Member myself until recently I have experienced lots of problems with this, some people object to model aircraft being flown within half a mile of their houses due to the “noise” level.
This noise level is far less than their flymo’s but they still object and one has to agree to certain noise levels being adhered to.
IT CAN BE USUALLY OVERCOME !
Good luck – get them flying it a great hobby.

Both RX and TX must have the same Crystals (Chips) to work. If they are of the same make you will have no problems although some different makes will take another makes crystals but this is not recommended.

As a retired Police Officer with things changing to such an extent since I was in the Force I would recommend that they now be armed.
In the late 50’s I was a Traffic Officer and we had very little problems no one ever thought of shooting us (generally) but if I was still in the force I would want to be able to protect myself by being able to shoot back if necessary. The whole scene has completely changed.

    Hi Steve
Roger Freeman was an 8th Airforce specialist. Without him we would not have had
the “B.17 Flying Fortress Story” , “The Mighty Eighth”, “Mighty Eighth War Manual”,
“Claims to Fame The B.17 Flying Fortress” and others.
