    First 787 is due for delivery in January 2013, with others to follow in months thereafter.

    Initially routes will be short / medium haul routes such as TFS / PMI etc… for crew training purposes.

    Long Haul routes will start May 2013 to Florida and the Carribean. No dates have yet to be released for the eastern long haul routes.

    As a side note i flew MAN – SFB last August with TOM in an ex FCA 767-300 in premium economy and it was fantastic!

    All depends on which airport you are flying from, if its either GLW or BHX you’ll be on G-OBYD, the only Thomson 767 with Premium seating. If it’s from any other uk airport you’ll be on an ex FCA aircraft.

    The premium cabin in the ex FCA aircraft is larger than the Thomson aircraft 63 seats as opposed to 35 seats.

    Have two colleagues who have both recently done MAN – SFB – MAN, one in Premium economy and the other in economy, both said how good the flight and service was; the one who flew premium said he would definitely upgrade again.

    Just a point of fact if you are on G-OBYD in economy it is a 2-4-2 seating arrangement with a 30″ seat pitch, economy on the ex FCA aircrfat is 2-3-3 with a 33″ seat pitch, that might help make your mind up.

    [QUOTE=marktheevildude;1463767]

    Redundancy is still redundancy regardless of whether the employee volunteers for it or is made compulsorily redundant. In both instances he is entitled to claim JSA.

    Just read the original daily mail article: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1215303/Hero-BA-crash-pilot-new-job–crash-CV.html

    He’s not claiming job seekers allowance atm, he got a years salary of £100,000 when he took redundancy, and is earning money from after dinner speaking, Jobseekers is unavailable if you have over £16,000 in savings, and for every £250 over £6000 you have a pound is taken off your weekly total benefit. This is a awful case of sensationalist journalism and i’m afraid it seems in my personal opinion like a way for the wife to earn a little extra money for the family, As an experianced pilot he should have known that there are few jobs in aviation avaiable atm and many experianced pilots will be applying for them and surely he would have known a crash, whether his fault or not onhis record would affect his chances. He made a bad choice to leave his job when he did if providing for his family and paying his £500,000 mortgage is an issue. He better hurry up with the TV and book deals of the incident, i will support him by buying them, but having read all the facts i can’t have sympathy for him now.

    To answer the original question, no the economy cabins of the Gatwick based 744s has not been updated – yet! The aircraft are being repainted one by one this year and from next year (after the jig-around of routes from LGW) each 744 will one at a time have its seating and IFE updated to bring in line with the LHR aircraft.

    FB

    Any ideas when the IFE / seating upgrades will ommence?

    It’s been a downhill slope for Thomsonfly since there rebranding, flew on a 763 last year and it was in a right state. Oh well will find out what the 738 is like in a few weeks

    Totally disagree. Flown with Thomsonfly 3 times in last year, nost recent 2 weeks ago. Flights early, planes clean, cabin crew friendly and courteous and prices cheaper than Easyjet; what more can you ask of an airline!

    Already booked another 4 flights with them in the next 8 months. Actions speak louder than words!

    Great Pictures Deano,

    Flying into SBG a week saturday myself. Obviously a busy Saturday morning you seemed to be on a very remote stand?
