    RE: Trenton Halifax Pictures

Can anyone tell me what the second photo is showing?

I thought the ‘Friday 13th Halifax’ was on a Hasting undercarriage

    Many thanks

the early DO17 theory sound reasonable, however, the book states the aircaft ‘rolled on his back’. Could a DO17 do that?

A ‘piloted version of the V1’ – can someone tell me why?

This does not reflect well on the uk aviation scene

The £10k asking price may sound unrealistic but what is the scrap value? Sorry chaps but we live in the real world!

    RE: Display boards

With all the static displays available (and Hendon should take a lead), Museums should allow the public to look inside (not just their cockpit) their exhibits i.e. show more imagination!

The Sunderland exhibit for the enthusiast who is too young/never flown this type of plane is absolutely fascinating.

Last year I took my 6 year old son to Cosford, including and overnight stay, and what inspired his interest was the ‘walk-through’ exhibits – Canbarra and Vulcan (?) not just the planes we camped under – although his dad thought it was fantastic!

    RE: Display boards

During my last visit before xmas I thought the BoB display was great and the Sunderland walk-through was fascinating.

However, it was all rather dark.

I get to Cosford more often and that is brilliant!

In terms of notice boards – please remember the Museum needs not just us aero buffs but the general tourist so they need to reflect their needs. Maybe two Guide Books – one for the tourist and one for the the ‘expert’?

    RE: Bader book

I’ve got a signed copy of the book written by Ray Holmes – he was the pilot who rammed the Do17 (he had run out of ammo) which crashed on Victoria Station in London during the BoB – what a star!

I know it is genuine ’cause he signed it in front of me!

    [updated:LAST EDITED ON 28-02-02 AT 10:52 PM (GMT)]Hi Neilly

I’ve just found an interesting site which gives some good info on Barnes Wallis and has a bit about the Windsor – I remember now it was a specific design by B-W

Can I post web – sites on the forum?

    RE: Vickers Windsor

Four-engined heavy bomber of geodetic construction. Prototypes only built. It was powered by the Rolls-Royce Merlin

It looked like a 4 engined Wellington – I am sure I have some more info in one of my reference books – do you want any more info?

My two young lads are being treated to an expoloration tomorrrow (16th Feb) but unfortunately most of the site has been cleared.

I will keep in touch – any more info?

    RE: Pics from latest recovery

I recall reading about a crash site 1 mile off Formby point near Southport, problem is that was some time ago!

At the time a very early Spitfire (first mark 1?) could be seen in the Mersey at low tide – I remember seeing it myself about 20 years ago – near the old Speke airfield.

Do you know of any other locations that may help the project? There are plenty of rumours and anecdotal evidence
