The new format is horrible! Why, as someone said, “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it!”
What really was the need to change what was a very good format for a very active forum?
It looks and is horrible and (for example) we can no longer jump to the latest post from the thread title.
Accident not whilst servicing, but post display flight.
I witnessed a terrible accident in 1975 at RNAS Yeovilton Air Show involving post display shut down of RAF Harrier. Whilst disembarking, the pilot is believed to have caught his foot in seat handle which then fired with fatal results. He had omitted to re-fit the safety pins. IIRC the accident report stated that this oversight was probably due to “post event euphoria” (or very similar wording).

From a friend, a member of the IPMS Harrier Special Interest Group (SIG).
Hope it helps.
XZ133 hanging from the ceiling at RAF Hendon Museum should give them all they need. As for what is accurate, nothing was painted 100% accurate to the scale drawings, so they’re best bet is to find photos of the aircraft they have. It’s not clear if they have an original GR3 or what they have.
Have they asked JetArt? The RAF Museum? The Harrier Heritage Centre? Museums that have GR3s – Tangmere, Yorkshire, Newark, Bruntingthorpe, Duxford?

Brilliant work! I remember seeing and hearing 3 CAACU Mosquitoes flying from Exeter in the 1950s when I lived in Torquay.
John Terrell in post #8 mentions another Mosquito being built for the Mosquito Pathfinder Trust.
What is the relationship between them and The People’s Mosquito? Are they one and the same? Is there collaboration?
Tiger Moths en route from White Waltham to Bicester Scramble I believe

I am posting this from Sheila, John’s daughter;
In the name of the family, I would like to express our gratitude for the posts, the shared memories, the photos.
My father touched so many peoples’ lives in so many ways.
His life and his life’s work are being celebrated and we would like everyone to know what a consolation this is for us.
Our heartfelt thanks,
Sheila Farley

Many thanks to all who have responded, especially Planemike for that link. And yes, who can forget Goldfinger? Didn’t Piper take maximum advantage of their appearance by painting Piper in large letters on the aircraft?
I’ll take a look at the Vintage Piper Club site. Thanks.
An enduring design. (Let’s not forget that John Thorp was also involved with the design)
Any more anecdotes / information chaps?
Chris
