Been looking at a few photos on the photographic forum, SEMAE’s of TD248 and TA805 and am now not at all convinced that wasnt ********.

I’m no expert and only going on my memory of seeing the marks at airshows, but doesnt the underside of the nose bulge further forward on the Mk XVI than on the MkIX, which has a smoother curve to the packard merlin version?
I am sure someone more informed might set me straight.

was TE184 the one that breifly wore an american scheme in the mid 1990s?
Hopefully she’s staying in the UK, will be good to see a familiar serial number back in the sky.
I like the combination of high-back and broad chord rudder myself. guess if its not original…

WP840-that MiG 3 is beautiful. Never realised what a good-looking aeroplane that was.

Personally, glad to see a few of the Hawker family on a lot of lists. For family reasons i must concur with whoever said “Typhoon.”
For family reasons:
Hawker Tempest II
Two Hawker Typhoon (so now I could have one flyer, one static)
RAF Curtiss Tomahawk (nice one Colin! My grandfather flew these on gunnery training (iirc) before joining the squadrons with Typhoons, and had quite a soft spot for them-surprised it got a mention)
Armstrong-Whitworth Whitley
Hawker Hart Trainer
And some for me:
Junkers Ju88
DeHavilland Mosquito
Junkers Ju52
Focke-Wulf Fw190, ideally a 2 seater like the one at Hendon
My personal choices. if we could all have our ten, I’d approach those with Typhoons, and tour europe as a three-ship.
Dont often post on the forums but these “we can dream…” threads I like.
I don’t, but I’m vaguely curious to know where it was taken, interestin photo.

The Buchon would terrify me.

Not a regular contributor, but this thread is a bit of a laugh.
For patriotic reasons, and that we’re snowed under with spitfires at the moment, i’d spend my million on the firefly, restore it, and operate it at UK airshows in an innaccurate WWII Royal Navy Pacific scheme, and hopefully having the change to buy the DC-3 which I’d use as some kind of flying house, in order to keep close to whatever display pilot to whom I entrusted my firefly.

Thats absolutely outrageous!
Surely there are other sites?
Anyone doing anything about it?

I thought the hunter in the valley at the end of 28 days later was one of the most beautiful pieces of cinematography i have ever seen, absolutely stunning. Does anyone know where the hunter came from, or what nationality it was supposed to represent?
May i refer to a couple of music videos also? Fatboy Slim’s rather outrageous US marked Hawker Hunter in his butchering of Jim Morrison’s Bird of Prey? The rather nice Buchon flown by Mark Hanna in Travis “Driftwood” Video?

I liked the commentator. I thought a French accent was a bit different and cool. I thought he sounded pretty well informed, and the language he used to describe the aircraft was a lot more poetic and listenable to than some airshow commentators.
Respect to the commentator.

I saw a brown/green/sky spitfire over Upminster yesterday, assumed BM597 but could equally have been P7 i suppose, and an unidentified invasion striped aircraft in the distance, which may have been the PRXI, but may have been another pass by the the razorback mustang, the highlight of the day, going straight over my head. must have been about 17OOhrs. Earlier in the day I saw what may have been a Storch as well, about 153Ohrs, although I’m not so sure. It was long and had yellow wingtips and a yellow bar on its rear fuselage.

I cannot speculate on its accuracy, but doesnt the Revell 1/48 Ju52 have a decal option to represent one of these aircraft?
On this example the reg etc are definitely painted red.
Don’t know if this helps.

The UK’s second most neglected WW11 bomber
Whats the most neglected?

I hope this isnt a pointless post, but she is beautiful and I for one am well excited about this aircraft. It is absolutely stunning, and will no doubt be even better looking in post war naval colours with the wings down, and a bit more air beneath them.
