I’m pretty sure i saw an ex german Bronco display at North Weald in 199eightish, with a UK civil reggie near the tail. I have also been aware of that distict shape in the sky more than once, was it different to the DX based ones?

Maybe whoever used the term “tight fisted gits” in this thread was referring to the possibility that the mainstream commercial film industry may have a profit-based motive for restoring a lanc to flight for use in the film. Maybe after it is complete they will sell it on, or return it to the owners after making back the few mil they invested in it, guaranteed plus a bit.
In which case “getting some tight fisted gits” to fund the restoration of a lanc to flight is a wholly accurate description of what may, at the outside possibility, take place?
Just a thought. That post war canadian scheme looks fantastic by the way. If I’m ever in canada again i will make a big point of checking out some of the wonderful lancs they have there among other aircraft, massive respect to all those involved in the rescue of the two recently brought in from the cold.
If one were brought to flight standard, lets hope they bring it and the other over here for a season during filming and we will get to see three airworthy lancs together! I can dream. Surely the filming will necessitate the bringing together by road of a few static aircraft for the ground scenes at least and even that would be a sight to see.
Just saw an interesting thread and thought I’d throw in some (more) optimism

Glastonbury this year.
The litter pick. Totally knackered and hung over I was sitting outside my tent on a very muddy and messy field, when what should pass low over my head but the BBMF Dakota, followed about ten minutes later by a certain blue Canberra.
That was pretty cool.
The same week, walking with about 300 assorted travellers, hippies, students and workers, back to the crew feild from another minging days work, being “buzzed” by a pair of Tornados, when a chinook helicopter flew low and fast over. Many of my colleagues scowled at it, but I chanced a massive Idiot wave, as did a few other folks, at the chopper, and the Air Loadmaster (i imagine) who was leaning out of the aircraft on some form of harness, waved back. This made a lot of people smile. At the time we were worlds apart, but still we waved at each other, and it made my day.
Also walking close to my home after watching the battle of Britain day show on TV, I heard engines, and saw a loose formation of the black hurricane and about half a dozen spits, the HFL ones (TD24eight and the mk XVIII) a D-day striped example and what I presume was MH434 among them, presumably on their way home from the show. They were low and the quantity of aircraft reminded me of a scene i never got to see, that of aircraft in the area flying out of RAF Hornchurch, which is very local to me, during the war years.
Not as cool as some of the stories on here, but those are mine.

What did it do?
I’m just curious.
It is indeed a fine collection Mr Teichmann is building at North Weald.
Jay
The colour one looks like a painting by Paul Nash.
Jay
He was a true hero of mine and a fantastic showman who knew how to entertain a crowd.
I was always aware of him and his flying, especially with MH434, very much his aircraft, since I started goingto airshows over ten years ago.
The display scene will be a lot poorer in his abscence.
Jay
That looks really cool.

Could a dogfight not still occur?
Or do our air forces now blow up all “enemy” air power on the ground with missiles before this is allowed to happen?
There is footage from the falklands which shows “dogfighting”-no question. Were the MiGs shot down over serbia shot down with long/medium range AAMs?
Jay
What an impressive aircraft, that RB57.
Wheres it going/whats it for etc?
Jay
Shame it got burnt, that is a very catalina shaped outline, but didnt know it was made of wood.
Those houseboats look awesome. Shoreham is definitely a place I have to visit. Somewhere on the south coast, Brighton way?
Oh yeah, Tornado drop tanks?
Jay
The B24 looks good next to the lanc.

Its not april fools now.
I was well excited when i saw it and started reading the first few posts!
Thought from the title the mossie was still in the uk or something, then a typhoon. Unfair whoever bumped this thread!
🙁 😡

I saw a Canberra when i was working at glastonbury. Had to stop picking up litter and watch it for a bit. Something we wont see for much longer, although it may have been the Civvy one, if that was about in June this year?
I got buzzed by a tornado then as well, and a chinook loadmaster waved at me.
Jay
I’d ask the owner what his plans are for it, maybe offer him a couple of grand to take it away…
Jay
In a new colourscheme perhaps?
They repaint them about this often dont they.
😀
