>>Canopy far right corner looks interesting. Hotspur glider perhaps ?
I think the heavily framed canopy is from a B-45 Tornado bomber as we have one on display in the Bentwaters Cold War Museum and it looks the same.

There are two events at Bentwaters this year.
On June 13th there is an airshow being organised by Bentwaters Parks which is lining-up to be a good one 🙂 (note that the museum will be closed on this day and no guided airfield tours will be running)
The Bentwaters Cold War Museum are having their own Open Day on
August 1st,while there will be no flying there will be other attractions on the ground and guided airfield tours by coach will be running.
There will be a rare appearance by the museums ex Spanish Air Force Piper Navajo E18.2/42-71 which will be displayed near the restoration hanger on the airfield.
Cheers – Graham
Brilliant…thank you very much :eagerness:
Now fully booked, thanks.
OV-10 Bronco over the Bentwaters airfield in Suffolk at 15.40 heading North to South.
You have a WWI French Model 1885 37mm cartridge case made by Pouderies de Paris (P.D.P) in September 1917. (If that’s a ‘9 17’ in the bottom right) I believe the ‘AEF’ stands for ‘American Expeditionary Force’.
Thanks for the information.
Just a few spaces left.
There is now a Paypal option on the Museums website for payment for the walk – http://www.bcwm.org.uk/news/
I havn’t been to the hanger for a while, will look forward to seeing XX741 again.
Geoff Goodall’s warbird register website states P-38H 42-66841 is with David Arnold/Flying A Services, Bentwaters UK. Is this incorrect?
David Arnold/Flying A Services must own the P-38 then. Its Air Leasing Ltd that undertake the rebuilds at Bentwaters,if they have not already moved to Sywell along with Spitfire ML407.
Does David Arnold have a warbird facility at Bentwaters? If so, does it open to the public?
Not that i know of.
Can anyone tell me how these are run, and what I can expect? I’m going to try and go to one this year if work will allow it. I was reading some reviews on Trip Advisor and other places, and given its proximity, I think it would make a great day trip. Any thoughts?
I am one of the trustees at the Bentwaters Cold War Museum, we used to hold a special open day every year but no longer do that.
Instead we hold airfield walks, bus tours and also this year we are hosting a classic car event on Sunday 17th April, the museum is open on the following dates, see this link – http://www.bcwm.org.uk/visitor-information/
Keep an eye out on the museums web page for airfield tour dates when they are arranged.
Cheers
I have noticed over the years the display line at airshows keeps being pushed further and further away from the crowd line, so hence it is now outside most airfields boundaries.Time to bring it closer in and keep aircraft displaying over the airfield for as much as possible.
Thanks windhover, that’s very helpful.
tankbarrell – no not Terry, his name is Phillip !!
