That would look so nice at Bentwaters in 512th FIS colours.
The Mystere & F100 at the Lashenden Air Warfare Museum have NOT been part of the museum since 2007 having been returned to the National Museum of the USAF following the accident involving the F100 & Turbo Beaver OY-JRR. Neither aircraft was acquired by the museum having been loaned by other “preservation groups”. The F100 has been declared as unsafe following the accident which is why it is fenced off & untouched. The museum want them removed, the airfield owners want them removed & we are not allowed to dispose of them & the NMUSAF seem unwilling or unable to remove them!
We would love to have the F-100F at the Bentwaters Cold War Museum as its a representative type as they flew from Bentwaters twin base of Woodbridge with the 79th TFS.
But as you are fully aware the USAF Museum and its tight regulations won’t allow it to be moved to a private museum 🙁

Nice photos-sad to see the Jags etc broken up though.
Picture one is a Navajo I think (PA-31) in what looks like Spanish air force markings.
No idea how it got there and what it was used for in that form though!!
The ex Spanish Navajo has been at Bentwaters for around 12-13 years,it was used in a t.v progamme/film and left inside a hanger with alot of other film props. The museum took it on charge a few years ago but it does not really fit in with our collection policy, so if anyone wants to give it a good home please contact the museum. The tail fin, tailplanes and inner wings are also here but are abit battered as it had suffered from a crash landing which ended its flying career.
Its was put onto those tracks for the Bentwaters Parks airshow in 2010 to simulate a crash recovery and has remained on them ever since !!
Thanks Alan, glad you enjoyed your day.
Thanks Rob, Lets hope the weather is kind to both the events.
Phantom FGR.2 XV497 which will be on static display.
12 Sqn were at Roosevelt Roads Puerto Rico in Nov 86
Thanks very much nimgen 🙂
That F-15 71-0291 is about 40 years old, so i would say it qualifies as historic
Not sure if it rates as ‘Historic’ either
Moggy
Thats great news, i wish the museum all the best for the future.

The USAF museum would have to have a change of policy first….but i would buy an A-10,F-4D Phantom,F-101C Voodoo,F-86A,F-86D,F-84G,F-84F and a T-33A and place them on loan at the Bentwaters Cold War Museum.
Anyone know the owner? I know he was on this very forum many years ago.
W&R 23 has the owner down as John Flanagan.
