Are you the Graham who did “The Living Years” CD ?
No, that was Graham Haynes the museums chairman. There are three Grahams at the museum and it gets very confusing sometimes !!
Yes it is a shame the airfield owners did not follow on with another airshow but the museum will always do its best to put on a good event.
We had a few things planned for this year flying wise but as nearly always for different reasons they did’nt happen,we have now heard that the Navion is unable to attend due to the soggy ground at its home base.
But we have got the Museums own Jaguar GR.1 which has been towed out of the restoration hanger for the day to be on static display.
Carolyn Grace still operates her Spitfire from Bentwaters and is due back late tomorrow afternoon hopefully before the museums event finishes at 5pm.
Cheers – Graham

Great piece of skilled flying….good to see.
…..and talking about RAF Bentwaters ,is there going to be an AIRSHOW at Bentwaters this year ? as i was also told it will be held every 2 years ? It was a very good show but the locals don.t want it ,they were moaning at the time i seem to remember ,umm James May was there he seemed to like it
No airshow at Bentwaters this year we were told by the airfield owners 🙁 ,i don’t think there was any signifigant moaning from the locals as alot of them remember the old USAF shows there and enjoyed it.
It was just a descision by the owners not to have one.
But the Bentwaters Cold War Museum will be having a big Open Day on Sunday June 17th,2012 which hopefully will include one or two flying items but its still in the early planning stages and i will let the forum know more details on another thread nearer the time.
I remember in 2010 when she arrived at Bentwaters the day before the airshow and beat the place up before landing.
It was just like slipping back in time to when the base housed the 81st Fighter Interceptor Wing who also flew F-86A’s, never get tired of seing her fly.
Wow,what a great museum…..thanks for sharing your photos.
Here are three scanned prints that i have taken of D-5805.
The two static shots were taken at Deelan airshow 2nd July,1988 and the fuselage shot was at Gilze Rijen airshow 5th July,1997.

Quote – “Here’s an interesting thought to end with though;- What if, all of a sudden, there was a group of ‘automobile enthusiasts’ who were (Automobile) ‘Spotters’. What if they stood outside your house, noted your every movements, took photographs of you, and then posted all this information about you on the web..? Actually, a lot of people would get pretty hacked-off with that”
If i had a super rare car it would be understandable but i don’t think there is much interest in my eight year old Astra
I photographed these Skeeter booms about two years ago in a derelict shed near Saxmundham in Suffolk.
The four booms were from XL736,XL767,XM530 & XN345
I am glad they were saved as they had been laying in that old shed for about nine years at least.
Great shots of classic jets,
Just love that F-101A Voodoo………..
