Thanks for your kind words, I’m only sorry I forgot to book better weather!
Despite gusty winds on Saturday and a decidedy damp start to Sunday we still had a huge turn out of aircraft (about 170 – but we’re still counting) and made around £1500 for our three charities.
Thank you to everyone who visited the event by air or road, and thank you to all of you who volunteered your time to help make things run so smoothly.
Shall we do it all again next year? I could be tempted.
Best
Steve (who didn’t get any cheesecake!)
Change of contact details for me this weekend.
Although PPR etc remains on 0115 9815050 / 0115 9811327 I can also be contacted directly on 07767 703555.
Hope to see some of you over the next few days – be sure to come over and say Hi.

Well, I’ll be there!
And from the e-mails and phone calls I’ve been receiving it sounds like most of Europe will also be putting in an appearance!
I’ll be the one looking stressed all weekend hoping everyone does what they’re supposed to do and when they’re supposed to do it…..
As per other posting – we’ve also get Red Bull support for the event and some very interesting aircraft arriving from far and wide.
BTW: Futurshox – don’t get making too many plans to socialise, you’ll be too busy helping out ;o)
See you there.
Steve
Hi Neal,
There were no restrictions last year, but we did has a limited amount of car parking at Gamston the year before. That was one of the reasons we moved to Tollerton.
The Pitts arrival is beng co-ordinated by Shawn Doyle at Leicester and I beleive we now have 15 or 16 pilots signed up. Invite letters to all Pitts owners will go in the post over the next few days.
Cheers
Steve
All proceeds go to the charity fund so fly in or drive in – everyone welcome.
Steve
Futurshox,
I’ll echo Arm Wavers comments – I’d like to see more photos when you have them ready. I was too busy on the day to see everything that came in. The latest info from Tollerton is that we had 247 arrivals!
Thanks to everyone who supported the event, we’ll publish the list of ‘award’ winners over on the General Aviation forum next week.

Thanks Futurshox – eagerly awaiting more of these pics. Glad the air2air trip went well for you, despite the bumpy air.
We’ll publish the list of fly-in ‘award’ winners on here early next week.

Any chance we may see a certain Chipmunk gracing the Nottighamshire skies that weekend?

Hello again,
Firstly, can I take this opportunity to thank the many airfields that have offered to host fly-in. Your kindness is very much appreciated.
The organising team and I have now been able to reach a decision and in terms of logistics, location and available space we have chosen to relocate the Today’s Pilot fly-in to………..
NOTTINGHAM TOLLERTON AIRPORT (EGBN) ON JUNE 13, 2004
Will Flanagan and his team at Tollerton are very excited about hosting the event and have been able to confirm that the original date of June 13 is available to us.
As you may know, East Midlands Airport has recently renamed itself ‘Nottingham East Midlands’ – despite being a considerable distance from the city of Nottingham. Therefore Today’s Pilot is especially pleased to show our support to the ‘original’ Nottingham airport and clear up any confusion brought about by the name change.
As was previously the case, we are teaming up with the Aeronca Club of Great Britain to host a ‘Gathering of US Classics.’ We hope the event will attract all manner of classic US designs from Cessnas and Pipers, to Luscombes, Stinsons, Stearmans and Mustangs.
This year also marks the 40th anniversary of the maiden flight of the Beechcraft KingAir so we are taking the opportunity to invite KingAir owners to join us on the day.
Thanks to Nottingham Tollerton Airport landing fees are FREE – however visiting pilots are encouraged to make a donation to Breast Cancer Awareness.
There is plenty to do in the area, and the airport is just a three-mile taxi ride from Nottingham City Centre. There are also superb facilities on site – including a restaurant and licensed bar.
Tiger Moth trial flights will also be available on the day– pre-book your flight by calling 0115 9815050
Will Flanagan is arranging a party at the airfield on the Saturday evening, and although the fly-in will only take place on Sunday visiting pilots are welcome to arrive late on Saturday, attend the party and camp with their aeroplane. For more information contact Will on 0115 9815050
For more information please feel free to contact me at the Today’s Pilot office on 01780 755131 or e-mail stephen.bridgewater@keypublishing.com
Hopefully we will see some of you there?

The aeroplane is known as the Gippsland GA-8 Airvan and has recently been awarded FAR23 certification and large orders from the Civil Air Patrol in the USA.
Look out for a complete air test in Today’s Pilot magazine in the next two to three months.
Steve
Hi Loz,
Congratulations!

The reasoning behind the TP fly-in being only open to airborne visitors is an issue of car parking.
Gamston is undergoing a lot of work at the moment, including the construction of a large new hangar. However this has meant that a lot of rubble and associated building materials have been deposited in the car park area -plus some of the resident businesses are currently in portacabins on the car park.
It is hoped that this area may be cleared in time for the fly-in and the issue of public access is something that we may be able to resolve nearer the time.
My personal opinion is that fly-ins should be open to the public – as you mentioned they are a great PR tool. I hope we can lead by example.
Hope this clarifies things?
BTW: The fly-in looks like it is becoming a really popular destination – hope to see you there!
Best Wishes
Steve
