This thread is going nowhere. The majority are all agreed and the extemists will never agree. A bit like Northern Ireland, in fact. Fortunately the minority is being squeezed ever smaller and perhaps will, one day, become an irrelevance.

Thanks for all your comments. We have already begun a search for new moderators to help Grey Area and Deano out. The general feeling is we can do with more than two active moderators which should give more varied moderation and ultimately benefit the forum. I would welcome any suggestions and anybody who puts their name forward will be considered.

I have moved the images sub-forum back to its original location for now. We will look at what to do with trip reports and the possibility of posting images on the main forum. I seem to recall that this was separated in the first place as the general consensus of opinion was the large amount of images posted on the main forum was diluting the discussion. It might be worth leaving things as they are for now and throw around some ideas and then doing some sort of poll in the near future.

Forum user Tangmere was banned, in 2007, from using any part of this Forum on a permanent basis. He returned to the Forum posting as Tangmere1940 some time later in clear contravention to the Forum Guidelines, posting whilst still subject to the original ban. Recently, during a periodic check, I noticed this violation and in accordance with the guidelines, correctly, enforced the outstanding ban. I have received several requests that Tangmere1940 have his ban overturned. Taking into consideration that Tangmere1940 has recently been an active member of the Forum, remaining within the bounds of the guidelines, I am pleased to approve these requests and have reinstated Tangmere1940’s access privileges. I hope that this decision will go to further enhance the use of the forum for all users.

I also take this opportunity to thank all of you who shared your thoughts with me over this, and other matters. I am always pleased to receive suggestions.
