Parallel Universe Battle of Britain Film

Parallel universe Battle of Britain film….

The recent Batle of Britain film remake thread led me on to a surealist take on the subject and for some reason my tortured mind ended up travelling down the following road……

We live in a parallel unverse where the Battle of Britain film has been made in a slightly different format.

eg; Battle of Britian. The Bollywood version.
Brief overview: Multi-million Rupee production concerning the endeavors of a young Indian Air Force officer, (Sqdn Ldr Dilip Canfield) to woo the apple of his eye, (Section Officer Madhur Harvey ). Harvey’s father, (Sanjiv Goering) objects to this liason and sets out on an effort to destroy Dilip Canfield by launching an all attack on his village (Bahji-Tag)
What follows is the most impressive battle scenes ever submitted to celluloid. Watch in astonishment as swarms of evil villains on black Lambretta scooters escorting hoardes of Vespacars battle our small band of white suited, medallion adorned heroes on their gleaming white vespa scooters.
Lighter moments are provided by big budget musical sequences and top notch Bollywood choreography!
Under the relentless assault from the attack, our heroes village is perilously close to being totally wiped out and things seemingly become desperate. Until, that is, for no apparent reason, the evil Sanjiv Goering turns his attack towards Dehli.
Our hero has a chance to re-group and win the day. He defeats the evil Goering, gets the girl, and they both sing and dance into the sunset….

yada, yada, yada…..you get the picture.

Or how about…The Battle of Britain. The Are You Being Served version..

eg: “Section Officer Inman!!!!……..”
“I’m Free!!…..”
Or: “I hear Mrs Slocombe’s pussy has been posted missing”

Or: A remake starring the Daleks titled: Dalek Invasion of Britain: AD1940….starring Roy Castle and Peter Cushing……I can just imagine this one;

Any other ideas out there…

I know it’s off topic….I humbly appologise for that.

Merry Christmas.
🙂 🙂

All that leads me on to say that one of the reasons the comedian Rowan Atkinson and the writers of the series never made a Blackadder 5, was the original intention to place Blackadder in the BoB period, but found that there was indeed a Sqn/Ldr Blackadder who flew during the Battle and the war, so they quietly dropped the idea as it may be inappropriate, and may have caused offence to Sqn/Ldr Blackadders’ family.

This is not intended as a criticism of your suggestion or your post, just as a bit of time-passing information! No offence meant to the poster or any viewers of the post.

Have a great 2005! Phew, that’s Christmas over with for another year! 🙂
Regards all,

Keith,
No offense taken. But the fictional Blackadder in the BoB would have been fun to watch. Atkinson is great. 🙂

Prior to Star Wars, Lucas had watched all kinds of WW2 combat film. There is NO DOUBTin my mind that he watched Dambusters. “How many guns to you see?” “About 20 guns, some on the towers and some on the surface.” Or something to that effect.

Could have copied it word for word. My absolute first thought when I saw it in the theater as a kid was, this guy’s seen The Dambusters.

Dan

Not only did he watch The Dambusters, but when an unfinished version of the movie was screened before studio execs, bits of the movie where the special effects would be filled in later were instead INSERTS from The Dambusters….

You learn something new every day 😉

The final attack on the Death Star (in the first film) always reminded me of “The Dam Busters”.

Or is it just me? 🙂

I thought they actually based it on 633 Squadron.

Sqdn Leader Blackadder.

There was actually a pilot called ‘Blackadder’ who flew in the Battle of Britain. He was Flt/Lt (later Sqn/Ldr) William Francis Blackadder, who flew with 607 (County of Durham) Squadron, Royal Auxilliary Air Force. Flt/Lt Blackadder shot down or shared in the destruction of 9 enemy aircraft during the Battle of Britain period, and during his career, he claimed a total of 18 aircraft shot down (Including shared & probables). He was awarded the DFC in June 1940, and made an OBE in 1945. He died in 1997.(Details culled from Men of the Battle of Britain by Kenneth Wynn).

Perhaps BoB would work better as part of the ‘Star Wars’ franchise?

A Japanese Anime?

Where a poor, old-fashioned Hujji-kane aerodroid suffers from an inferiority complex against the far more modern Seppitufaji aerodroid, set against the background of a terrible onslaught against the evil Goerzilla-monster.

Perhaps BoB would work better as part of the ‘Star Wars’ franchise?

‘Use the force Luke, and steer 230’ (Obie wan control)

‘Don’t you yell at me, mr Vader’ (Princess Harvey)

‘You can not escape me! – if you do we deserve……’ (Darth Georing)

‘Skipper hates Stormtropers’
‘Hate me to you will – If if this little lot wrap that up you don’t’ (FS Yoda)

OK…I’m going

How about combining the battle with another treasured English institution…the Thunderbirds?
Garry Anderson could have a field day with this one…imagine 5 brothers flying to defeat the enemy led by their stern widowed father and Suzanna York driving a pink MG. The film could have lots of heroics and rescues pulled off in the nick of time. When not fighting the germans, they could help disabled airliners land safely and turn a Hurricane into a mini-submarine.
Sure some of the acting would be wooden, but it should be cheap to make by using RC models.

Wasn’t that Pearl Harbor?
