Haven’t made any for years.
Until I read this thread, I thought about 100 unmade in the cupboard upstairs was a lot!

Mostly ‘planes, quite a few cars, at least one ‘bike and an Airfix E-boat.

All in 1/72, started trying to collect as many marks of Spitfire as I could, and any de Havilland models, there’s a surprise.

Still looking, and very occasionally buying. Get very strange looks from t’other half if she’s around at the time.

I build 1/72 kits and have about 300 made and the ceiling and walls are starting to bow ! Ive just completed the trumpeter tu-95 bear and monster size kit it is .below is a link to some pics but Im sure its been asked before but as Im new here how do you paste them to this forum ,maybe some one can tell me in idiots form . http://groups.msn.com/tailslidesgalleries/shoebox.msnw

Im still waiting for someone to produce a injection moul;ded plastic ,Nimrod and TSR 2 but Im glad to see TU 160 Blackjack and RAF Globemaster are on the way ,they should be big kits.
Ive started to play around with basic kits now to make them different ,Ive recently done 3 different versions of the canberra with different colour schemes and noses that arnt made in basic kits, would also love to correspond with others into 1/72 .

Older Thread So Hope You Don’t Mind

Thought i’d share these. Getting back into the swing of things – not great on detail/fiddley bits – but quite happy with these, for my standard anyway. Went to the recent IPMS at Cosford – fantastic stuff there.

RE: Do you build kits? Stick em up

They were rereleased a while back as a special edition so chances are you can still order one from a decent model shop (when I worked in one of the chain of Antics shops they had a couple).

Snapper – interesting to see you’ve got a 1.32 Beaufighter. Rare beasts indeed. Only other one of those I’ve seen is currently made and sitting on the boss’s filing cabinet at Skysport. Any idea where I can get my hands on one?

RE: Do you build kits? Stick em up

Dragged some old 1:32 kits out of a dusty box in the loft. The Hurri canopy is still masked up ready for spraying the matt varnish (4 years its been waiting!) and bits of that and the 109 have been broken off – ailerons etc. Perhaps I should buy some pellets for my airgun too! I can’t believe how many uncomplete models there are up there! Big 1:32 kits mainly. German, British, Japanese, American. A pity they didn’t do any Russki fighters in that scale yet. Must have a tidy up and get back into the modelling sometime.

I don’t believe there is one. Revell did a Mk 1, Hasegawa have a new Mk2, and there is also a Mk Vb. Look on www.hannants.co.uk

RE: Do you build kits? Stick em up

Funny you should make this posting as I was thinking of asking the same question. As airshows and private flying are having more and more restrictions imposed on them, I have rediscovered this wonderful hobby. Current project is a 1:32 F-5E (Revell) in Patrouille Suisse colours, to be followed by a 1:48 F-86D (Revell) and a 1:48 PBY-5A (Revell) which I intend to finish in Danish Air Force colours. Those of you who can read German can find a comprehensive modeller’s forum at www.flugzeugforum.de. Anyone out there know of a Spitfire Mk. IX in 1:32 scale?

RE: Do you build kits? Stick em up

Me too!

I build whatever I fancy, I don’t stick to any rigid criteria. Currently “in production” are a Lancaster in the markings of a 61 Sqdn aircraft lost in September 1942 and an Me 323 Gigant. For me, the end result is far less important than the pleasure I get from building these kits. I started again a few years ago and now it acts as physiotherapy for my hands, to try to keep the fine motor movement going.

My advice to anyone is to just enjoy it. My standard would probably not even get me into the junior class at a model show, but the hobby is no less enjoyable for that.

Regards,

RE: Do you build kits? Stick em up

Hi All,

I used to build plastic models, but could never get the realism that some of you manage to get. So, flying models became the order of the day! I started with a Keil Kraft Hurricane, control line model & eventually progressed onto radio controlled glider & then power.

At present I have several full competition gliders & a number of what we call PSS models. These are basically, models based on real aircraft & flown off big hills! I have a Mosquito FB VI(surprise, surprise!), F 15 & Hawk. On the power side, I’ve got a C-160 & a nearly built Mosquito B IX, with a Hawker Tempest V still in it’s box. I’ll start this one if & when I ever get the Mossie built

RE: Do you build kits? Stick em up

I made the entire Fighter Collection years ago, it was when they had the P-63 in russian markings. I never had photos of them and i got upset one day and took an airgun to all but Moose.
Biggest mistake i ever made.
