The flag carrier has adorned one of its widebodies in the scheme which today (November 14), transported the German national football team to the Middle East ahead of the upcoming FIFA World Cup.

Lufthansa has applied its latest ‘Fanhansa’ special livery to Airbus A330-300 example, D-AIKQ (c/n 1305).

The Rolls-Royce Trent 700-powered jet was, at the time of writing, airborne above the Mediterranean as Flight LH 632 carrying players, coaches and support staff from the German national football team to their Muscat, Oman-based training camp.

Lufthansa stated that LH 632 was “a scheduled service via Muscat to Dubai” from Frankfurt and, consequently, included customers from the airline onboard who were not part of the World Cup delegation.

According to the flag carrier, its ‘Diversity Wins.’ special livery was devised together with illustrator Peter Phobia which, Lufthansa says, “sends a clear message to the world”.

The airline added: “Lufthansa is a byword for openness, tolerance, diversity and bringing people together. The company enables its customers from all nations and cultures to connect, and welcomes everyone aboard, regardless of gender, age, ethnicity, religion, nationality, identity or sexual orientation. And it is taking this same message – that Diversity Wins! – aloft and around the world…”

Many aircraft from Lufthansa over the years, including types from the Boeing 737 and A321 to the 747 and A340, have all sported ‘Fanhansa’ titles.
