Thanks for the information. I found the part in the early 90s and I know there are a fair number of aircraft wrecks in the sea in this area. A very good reference is “Off Scotland” by Ian G Whittaker. It covers all types of losses at sea. I suspected the part was from an aircraft from the light construction, multiple fasteners, sandwiched rubber and canvas material and the wired fastener (see below). I’d have put money on it.
