Oddly this thread has split into two. On the other part, someone has produced documentation showing that the undercarriage hydraulics are (or should that be ‘were’?) powered from the starboard engine only, and also that the undercarrage has manual and compressed air backup systems. So my hypothesis of ‘equal’ engine systems is proved false. On the other hand, it should be possible to lower the undercarriage in the event of starboard engine failure, so it is not clear from that why a crash landing should follow failure of the starboard engine.
