The fifth and final ex-RAF Raytheon Sentinel R1 battlefield surveillance aircraft departed RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire, UK, on March 21 – almost two years after the platform was withdrawn from operational service and sold as second-hand assets to an unconfirmed US end customer

MOD confirms retired RAF Sentinel sale to the US

The UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) has confirmed that the retired fleet of RAF Sentinel R1s are to be sold to a consortium instead of being scrapped, this is due to the sales bid being deemed more value for money to the UK taxpayer than the original fait of scrapping
