yeah…..funnily enuff just like i said. they also did a C5, combat models also do large transport aircraft, being american i’m not sure of just what they did make-but the c-5 definitly sticks in the mind!!!

1/48 Vulcan

There used to be a British co called ID Models that specialised in large vac-form kits, including a 1/48 B-52. I don’t specifically recall that they produced a Vulcan, though. The accuracy of their kits was not all that good, at any rate, they are no longer in business. The largest Vulcan kit I know of is the 1/72 one by Airfix, which is actually a very good kit.
All I could suggest is you could get one of the cos that make travel agent models to make you one up, but it’ll cost you… or try ebay.com and see if one turns up.

what you need is to buy the decal sheet, thats compatible to your printer-i wouldnt be surprised if DACO didnt do it, they are local to you arent they??? well i found at least three people who make it on the hannants site. I suppose ink jet printers are just as good as others, prob better, as you know better than me, that laser printers get very hot, and since the decals are basically plastic polymers the heat might melt the decal film.

used to fly from cosford!! their model collection is extensive- but i prefer the 1/1 scale version better!!! ID models did the V bombers, ie victor valiant and vulcan, i think they are 1/48, but i reckon the one at cosford is 1/72. sure about the F16 xl being monogram?? havent heard of that before, seems a little out of place for monogram kits, not really the types to produce one off aircraft are they???

That’s right, Coanda. There is only one 1/72 XB-70 kit, the AMT one. There is a resin 1/144 kit available from www.meteorprod.com.

About self made decals: Does printing with a color ink jet printer work? If yes, how to do it (Is a gloss cote needed? ) ?

I’ve been looking around a bit, and indeed couldn’t find one. The British shop has J-7 decals in 1:48, those could possibly do the job (i should have measured serial and roundel sizes on different Chinese fighters when i had the chance!), those will probably do the job.

Does any noe out there know if and where i could find a 1/48 scale avro vulcan b.2, preferably to order on the net, its just that raf cosford has a cracker one on display in their model collection and the vulcans my all time fav. aircraft.

I’m ashamed to say I DO actually have this kit, and I don’t even WANT to think how much I paid for it. I’m in complete denial.
I bought it from http://www.lindenhillimports.com, a very good American retailer who specialises in Eastern European products. The whole kit is made out of resin, which is dumb for a plane so large- the cost of resin almost matches that of gold! They should have vac-formed the major parts. It is a reasonably accurate kit except for the top of the fuselage spine which has a convex instead of a concave curve. I found 2 major components broken when the kit arrived in the mail. Linden Hill said they would get Masterkit to replace them, but Masterkit never did. Linden Hill told me that this kit is no longer in production. The range of decal sheets that Linden Hill stocks is very good if you’re into unusual subjects.

The closest you’ll get to an Su-37 is the Trumpeter Su-27UB kit. I think the Academy 1/48th kit would be alot more accurate, but it’s a single seater. Both Italeri and Revell have released the F-22, they use the same mould. Monogram have made the best kit of the MiG 29 in any scale, and yes, it is in 1/48. Try http://www.hannants.co.uk, or ebay.com for out of production kits.

F-16EX?

Don’t you mean an XL? Monogram brought out a 1/72 kit a few years ago and it has been rereleased under various guises several times. I belive there is a 1/48 kit by Idea as well. For second-hand or out-of-production kits, http://www.ebay.com is best. I’ve bought some extremely rare kits from this site, but be prepared to pay above-market prices…

There no after market decals for this aircraft yet, but some one will most likely do it at some stage.

F-16EX

wow, that’s old school, i remember seeing them ~14 years ago…i believe Monogram has a kit that comes with decals for that red, white, blue F-16 colours…guess i should say Monogram/Revell or the reverse. Guess you probably know that one since it’s a 1/72 and I’ve never seen a 1/48 XL.

They also cover Russian/Soviet subjects which is my area of interest so they have more models that interest me so I am a little biased.
The high cost of the Blackjack is because it is a limited run custom model. (same for the real thing… but the model is cheaper.)
Claimed to be stealthier than the B-1B and certainly with a brighter future, the Blackjack is a very powerful brute. (100,000kg thrust…)
I must say I do like the old bomb trucks better like B-52, but especially the Bear.

Yes, I think it is US dollars. I don’t use the site myself to buy models, I just use it to see what is available and buy from a local shop. I know the guy in the shop quite well and I save on postage because he buys in bulk.

Phantom, i have the hasegawa japanese amigo F4EJ kit,with the verlinden cockpit and radar, which i will pluck up the courage to make soon, i believe that the marking has somthing to do with a gunnery meet-if not that then definitly a squadron anniversary. I have also made the 92/29 sqrn aircraft in overall roundel blue, which i thought looked nice, your probably aware but there is a flash new magazine out in europe at least which is bi monthly and is called scale aircraft modelling, it is completely in colour, and a special phantom scheme section has begun atthe back-thought it might be of interest.

dutchy, is it the cranked delta wing type of f16 that you are after??? if so, i think that hasegawa made one of those a long time ago, so that might still be available, if you look in the right places.

Does anybody know where I could obtain a F-16EX in the scale 1:72. I collect all the specail paint scema for the F-16 so I must have a few dozen F-16’s rangeing from the YF-16 till the F-16c block 50 and the F-2A.

I have been building models since I was about 11 or 12 years old. (I will be 18 soon.) The most recent addition to my collection was an F-4EJ painted in special anniversary markings (forgot what the occasion was). It has the word Amigo on the side in big letters. I have no idea what that means. Obviously, I have more of the F-4 than any other aircraft type. I have two 1:32 scale Phantoms, one an F-4E and the other an RF-4C. Both are hanging from the ceiling. I have a 1:32 scale Tornado IDS (German Navy), 1:32 scale F-117A (still in box). I have mostly 1:72 and 1:48 scale models, but I have a few 1:144 scale models, which include an F-16A, F-16XL, Tu-22M-3, F-4E, MiG-23BN, and a MiG-21. In 1:48 scale, I have an F-4J, Tornado IDS, Tornado ADV, MiG-21, MiG-29’s, BF-110, BF-109, P-40’s, P-51, B-17, F-16’s, AH-64, F-4F, F/A-18’s, F-15, F-14’s, T-38, F-5’s, MiG-17, Mirage 2000, and several others. In the 1:72 scale department, I have F-14’s, F-16’s, F-100, F-4’s, Ar-240, MiG-23, MiG-25, MiG-27, Su-27, Jaguar, A-37, F-8, F-102, F-106, F-104, F-117A, Tornado, P-40, AH-1, UH-1, AH-64 (in box), KC-135, and several others. I also have a B-1, B-2, and a Space Shuttle but I forget what scale they are. They are fairly small so I think it is like 1:200 or something. I also have an F-15 that is close to 1:72 but a little smaller. I also have a 1:72 scale Hawker Typhoon that is still in the box therefore I haven’t put it together yet.

I dont think there is a more advanced version of the XB70 other than the amt/ertl kit. you can buy clear decal sheet from more than one producer, which you can find at www.hannants.co.uk a very good model shop here in london, but they export aswell, pretty good all round, i believe there is an aircraft in detail book about the valkyrie, and since you can hardly see through the windows, the only main problem is the wheel wells, and bomb bay, if you wish to have it open.

By the way, Garry, cool site…is that price in US dollars…i’m gonna save enough to buy that blackjack, really awesome…is there a detailed Valkarie model out there? I know an American one, but the detail really sucks big time.
