Today is Armed Forces Day – is anyone going to an event? We have a display by the BBMF Lancaster so hopefully I’ll get a decent video of it this afternoon.

That video clip is great – many thanks Rob. I was in the house when I heard them coming and dashed out. Had a great view.

Also had a nice chat with the chap with the Shackleton Cockpit display. Didn’t get to look inside, as there was an
endless queue of kids.
That’s Mark Chitty of the Shackleton Preservation Trust. I spoke with him briefly by phone on Saturday and he said it was a great event.

On Littlehampton sea front a large crowd was thrilled by a solo aerobatic display by a two seat Spitfire probably out of Goodwood. After it departed the crowd broke into spontaneous applause. Sheer magic.

It was a great day in Scarborough. I managed to get video of a Typhoon display, Red Arrows and BBMF Spitfire, Lancaster and Hurricane, which made me very happy as last time the Lancaster was supposed to come the display was cancelled due to technical problems.

LF363 and PS915 over Ripon, think they came via Scarborough and Whitby.
Shaky video but shows flypast –

A couple of more pictures. The Spitfire and parachutist pictures didn’t come out well, as I camera
on wrong settings. π

It turned out to be a great day. Weather was nigh on perfect.
A couple of passes from BBMF Spitfire TE311 Mk XVI, A couple of low circuits by a Wattisham based Sea King,
then a pass by a Tornado GR4. Shame it could only do one pass, as I didn’t even manage a picture.
There was also a nice display by a three man Parachute Regiment team.
Also had a nice chat with the chap with the Shackleton Cockpit display. Didn’t get to look inside, as there was an
endless queue of kids.

TE311 AS βSPITFIRE-96β , was at the Rayleigh Armed Forces day.
Only a couple of passes, due to microlight traffic in the area.

Thanks Guys. A Spit and Hurricane were over our house. The Spit was blue so I guess they were the same ones as over Nottingham,

In the programme for Saturday, they say there is going to be a Shackleton cockpit on display. Or to be more accurate, a Shackleton “bomber” π
Anyone know where this will come from ?
No display times yet π

I stand to be corrected but I don’t think they publish that anymore. I have not found it so far this season.

There’s a more detailed event diary online I’ve seen before, in the appearance of an Excel database.
Can’t seem to be able to find it now. It gives timings for displays, routes, and aircraft taking part.
