I’m an AC-130 Gunship too… Who writes this stuff?! :D:D

Airliners.net – 15/20.

Has anyone noticed the other quizzes?

“Are you going to Hell when you die?”
“How will you die?”
“What flavour are you?” (Oh, please… Sour. I knew that anyway!)

I don’t think I dare take the aviation quiz!:rolleyes:

I got 13/20 on the Airliners.net quiz.
Did even worse on the aviation quiz…15/40

Didn’t understand what question #10 was all about:
Which is appearantly the 748, but why? No clue.

Three had names, the 748 only a number? :diablo:

Harrier, Hawk and Canberra have all been built in the US for the USAF?

Regards,

kev35

The Harrier only joined the US Marines, while the Hawk is a US Navy trainer.

In that case I was thinking too far… Hawk/Canberra/Harrier built under license in the US, but the HS748 was built under license in India.

I still think my quizzes over at ModMil were better 😀 A lot more obscure, but way more fun. Time to do another, I guess.

The only type of the 4 not to see service with the US military. 😎

Same with the ‘odd V/STOL aircraft out.’ Why the Kestrel?

I’d say, the other 3 have vertically installed jet engines, to create the lift. The Kestrel has a thrust vectoring engine.

Of course, you could also single the Shorts out for not being more than an unesthetic, impossible to arm, research craft. Merely more than a disguised flying bedcage … :diablo:

Oh, and 25/40 here … But of course I don’t know much about WW2, or about british squadrons / pilots …

Didn’t understand what question #10 was all about:

10) Which British aircraft type is the odd one out in terms of production?
a) BAe Harrier
b) BAe Hawk
c) EE Canberra
d) H.S.748

Which is appearantly the 748, but why? No clue.

Same with the ‘odd V/STOL aircraft out.’ Why the Kestrel?

Then there’s Aleksandr Kartveli. He was indeed born in Tblisi, but that doesn’t make him of the Georgian nationality. He was Russian, as Georgia didn’t exist as an independent nation between 1800 and 1992. Kartveli lived from 1896 to 1974.

30/40, by the way. To Anglocentric, if you ask me.

Kerosene junkie. 27/40.

(Though I thought the Valiant was the UK’s first 4-engined jet bomber? )

It was! (See above…. 😮 )

It would appear that one is a ‘Total Aviation Enthusiast’, as one scored 34/40. 😎

My wrong answers were: 3, 20, 24, 25, 30, 31.

EDIT: I’m sure that at least one of those ‘wrong’ answers was correct.

The F-86 was never built in the UK. Surely the RAF operated Canadair-built machines?

I’m talking about the Valiant:

The first type 660, WB210, flew on the 18th of May 1951, flown by Vickers’ chief test pilot ‘Mutt’ Summers and ‘Jock’ Bryce.

You made me stop my huff :p
