What is the coolest thing you’ve ever done??
Give it a rating out of ten.
Last year, my girlfriend and I dived with six, 400-pound sand tiger sharks in an aquarium. It’s quite unnerving seeing something so big swim within five or six feet of you – she even had one swimming over her head!!!
Rating: 9.5
(PS – flying in a warbird doesn’t count! ;))

“walking around the Pyramids of Giza. has to be one of the most amazing experiences in the world!”
You want camel ride? Hey. Camel ride?
I found them underwhelming in all honesty. I find a lot of stuff underwhelming now, from seeing loads of special places on various trips. Now Petra….that place was staggering! Took my breath away for hours! A vast area that is all simply amazing.
Petra (Jordan), Delphi (Greece), and Karnak (Egypt) are the three most fantastic places i’ve been to. And that new Tesco’s at Great Yarmouth. I wish i’d been able to get to Abu Simbel, but that wasn’t posssible. Baalbek in the Lebanon is also pretty high up there.

Back to the original question atop this thread…
Somewhere in the very early 1990s, a then-friend of mine was turning towards some of the more die-hard obscure Left collectives here in the Netherlands. You know, people who still called themselves Trotskists (it was 1992 i think), who tried to live according to the 4th Plenum of the Communist International Assembly or whatever, vegans, crusties, militant environmentalists, the lot.
Knowing my political preferences lean to the left as well, he invited me to a meeting of those people. I went along, just to see what the heck those guys were discussing, get a few beers, kill some time and possibly have a decent discussion.
Everything went well, except for that discussion. Those guys were lame. Paranoid as hell, extremely self-confident (yaaawn), absolutely assured they’d change the word by luddite demos, it was just terrible. IIRC the beer was Oranjeboom, so that stank too.
While this whole blabbering was going on, music was of course playing in the background. The basic Leftie-stuff of those days: the Levellers, and lots of inaudible punk-rock a.k.a. a lot of noise.
As it happened, i usually have a lot of junk in my coats/jackets/garments. One of those pieces of junk was a casette tape i borrowed from an acquaintance a few days/weeks/months earlier (jacket-archaeology!). The tape also had punkrock songs. By bands like StΓΆrkraft, Die BΓΆse Onkelz and, worst of all, Doi!tschland.
Indeed, it was German neo-nazi skinhead trash music. Totally tasteless, but definately weird so i guess it was worthy of a place in my jacket.
“Mind if i put up some other music? It’s from a few new bands i got this tape from.”
“Sure, go ahead.”
So the tape went in. Thankfully the quality of the tape was absolute crap, so it the lyrics weren’t really audible. At least, if you were thinking the songs were in English. If you finally realised that it was all German, you could make out what they were singing.
And disgusting it was – thankfully, the comrades didn’t realise that, and chairdanced quietly on lyrics about killing homosexuals and immigrants, only to throw up on their corpses and burn their relatives.
– “Hey, this is cool music.”
– “You think so? You know what, i’ll leave the tape here so you can make a copy!”
– “Gee, thanks!”
I never went back, never saw those guys back (except for that friend of mine), and was very happy i got rid of the tape.
All i would like to know, is whether those guys ever found out what music they were enjoying.

Successfully administering a kennel cough vaccine to my dog, he’s usually a real little #####, but on this occasion the stuff went in okay (it goes into the nose, some in each nostril, so you can imagine how dogs hate having that done, and how they bloody struggle!!)

Chemical Experts, Propulsion experts and Explosives Experts, I think we’d better keep a low profile, we don’t want the CIA getting whiff of this forum they’ll be staking us out as they did with that Whisky factory recently !!!!

Can you buy these in bigger sizes – the only ones I can get in model shops here in Scotland are only about 1ft long , interesting hobby !!!
ageorge,
We dont buy rockets here in Brazil. We build them! π These rocket packs you mentioned are too bloody expensive down here.
That accident that I mentioned, had happened in 1999 when I was member of Rocketry Group which was even premiated in a rocketry festival in France.
I am currently working in a new rocket project (this time working with some friends) in which I will try to install a camera to take some air photos, but there is a long way to go ’til there.

2 bottles of Highland Park , a Zippo and a gun , good day out !!!
Did you get the “stuff ” I sent you Daz , if you didn’t get it tonight then Post Office will probably throw it in tomorrow – DONT throw away the Jiffy Bag – I had the plans for the Turner T20 which has a nice canopy and I meant to put a copy inside the Jiffy , but I forgot so they are taped to the back in a separate envelope .
All in a huge Jiffy bag marked plainly “HARDCORE SPANKING ” π
