“If approved, Redditch Borough Council will be the first authority in the country to use a crematorium to heat a swimming pool”

Would it bother you if your local crem heated any type of public facility?

Pfft! You obviously spend too much time on this forum :diablo: I dont really come here much anymore, historic aviation has kinda lost its appeal for me 🙁

Cant help it mate 🙁
With the exception of a few people, my experiences dabbling in preservation have mostly been rather upsetting, especially when your own father joins in…
Fast cars have much more appeal 🙂

Incidentally, how many bodies does it take to raise water by one degree?

Why has thread been “resurrected”?

😀 The pool is nearly as bad as the M25. Some people have no lane etiquette.

Lane swimming is such hard work!
Wouldn’t you be better off in a pool?

I think I have suggested this here before.
We should all be `harvested` then burnt. Not only are we using the empty shell of a body to provide energy, we also avoid the ridiculous situation that is all the graves that are never visited again after a generation or two.

Will they use the hot air generated at council meetings to top it up durind cold spells. oops

In reply to the original question-not at all. I’m in full agreement with whoever Laviticus was chatting to though.
I have suggested to my wife we have one attached to our house, so if I pop my clogs in the Summer, she could pop me in the freezer, and then when winter comes she can pop me in the furnace and heat the house.:D
I think the swimming pool idea is a very good idea.

If its exceptionally cold out will they be looking for more fuel?
Thinking about it, its perhaps a good balance as there usually is more ‘fuel’ during a cold spell.
sad but alas true !! i just did pall bearing for an elderly pneumonia sufferer i feel the cold was partly to blame as well as other illnesses

Heat is generated and not wasted. I don’t really see a problem…..
Exactly. It takes a lot of energy to heat water so surely heating swimming pools essentially for free is a good move?
