A serious point. UK shows aren’t about quantity, it’s about quality. It might be one Spitfire or Mustang, it might be eight – but the flying is almost always the best. No, it’s not about who’s best, just top notch A1 wizard show display flying – with warm beer afterwards, if you tend that way. 😉

B-17s. In Urup there are 2 fliers. the French have Lucky Lady, which come over sometimes and Britain have Sally B – THE flying memorial the the mighty Eighth, film star, test plane, heavy smoker (2 engin only) and enthusiast supported 30 year sucess. Until you’ve seen Sally over an 8th AF Base or ‘the bomber (PA474, the BBMF Lancaster) when you are standing with the veterans, you’ve not seen something you mustn’t miss. Moggy will (rightly) add a Dak at Arnheim. Be here. Get (one) of the points.

IBury St Edmunds is a historic little town and worth looking round and there are a couple of 8th AF memorials in the priory grounds.

I have been wanting to go to Legends for a few years now. 2005 is very possible for me. 🙂 I have a few questions if anyone is willing to help out. Sounds like many spits, mustangs, forts, anyone have an average count? My uncle flew B-17s out of Great Ashfield in late ’43. How close is the field for a visit and finally, which museums would be good to plan on visiting?

I think they had ten Spitfires this year.
Great Ashfield is a few miles from the town of Bury St Edmunds. It would take about an hour in the car from Duxford. I would suggest a hire car or persuading a Brit to take you (someone here might be willing to help).
Bury St Edmunds is a historic little town and worth looking round and there are a couple of 8th AF memorials in the priory grounds. There’s also a memorial to the 385th BG in Great Ashfield Church.
As far as museums go, The Shuttleworth Collection (dear to the hearts of many here) and the RAF Museum at Hendon come to mind.

1st trip to Duxford Flying Legends

I have been wanting to go to Legends for a few years now. 2005 is very possible for me. 🙂 I have a few questions if anyone is willing to help out. But we do have are version of the Red Lion its called Club 41, if you go over to the Wix Gathering forum and bring up the whole Genesseo thread and read about what we all did that night I think its safe to say we are in the same group as the Red Lion.

And Rob, you’re right that Genesseo is a wonderful show, but you haven’t seen Legends yet. Besides, there’s no Red Lion just down from Genesseo! Also, congratulations on scoring 92% on the poll. Unfortunately a passing grade of 100% is required to gain entry to the UK. Sorry, not my rules. You know those Brits.

Can you please try to explain to your UK friends about Genesseo, and by the way I’m going to be talking with the guy who is in charge of aircraft are you going to be in the UK since the show is the same time as legends. Beside you can go over to the UK anytime with your plane but how many times will you get to see that many heavys in one location. :diablo:
