Crazymainer Come to Duxford

OK Guys,

So this is what I’m hoping for, if I can work out the details I would like to make one of the Duxford shows next year. :diablo:

Now here is the question which one should I try to get to. The Spring show or the Fall Show.

What ever show I make I will only be able to come over on Thursday and have to leave that Sunday late. I have to also make sure what ever date I decide I can make time for some meet and greet. 😮 😀

So Guys which one would you suggest and before anyone say both not in the picture. 🙁

Cheers Crazymainer

Crazymainer,

This is England therefore the weather will be CAV FU

So, as was suggested to Setter, we will sit in the hanger looking at my Rearwin, drinking coffee, looking out at the rain and slagging off the other members of the forum.

That is aviation.

Tomorrow the aforementioned setter, James the unfeasably thin and Man on the Fence are coming down to do just that although they will have to take it in turns to go outside so the others can be rud about them

PS Isn’t Steve short. It is a wonder anywhere accepts him

OK You Ask for it

Nothing beats Flying Legends.

Tell us about Genesseo. If your answer is good enough, we’ll drop everything and see you out there. Unlikely though.

It’s not the cold that the problem, it’s the p!sssistant wind and rain that is irritating in Spring and Autumn/Fall.

OK Guys,

Unless Legends is going to have there following,

6 B-17, 2 B-24, Lanc. 😮 this is the best all Warbird airshow in the States its held on a Corn Field last year we had Two Spits. Hurri, SBD,SB2C,TBM, Sea Fury Two Stangs, 32 SNJ/T-6/Havards :p , plus its also the greater Northeast Bi-Plane fly-in last year we had the only Jackaroo 😀 in North America their.

So this year they are going to try to beat 89 when we had 5 B-17,B-24 and the Lanc with the above list of Heavys. 😮 :diablo:

Thats why I’m going to be their instead of Legends plus I’m most likely going to be bring over my old Tiger Moth. 😮

Well it looks like the Fall show is going to be better for me then the Spring have to much stuff at work and some personal items in the spring.

Cees,

No on the Corsair, this is going to be a un-winding thing for me.Would you be able to make it across the Channel? 😀

Hairyplane,

Great, I’ll make sure I pack my Flight Kit :diablo: , since I’ve flown in a PT-22 the Magister sounds like Bloody hell fun and yes I’m just as Crazy as you are. :p

Nicky and I received the most stunning hospitality from Steve Patterson at Reno. Anything we can do here to reciprocate will be done.

Best regards

Ditto. I’m stuck out on the East Coast, but will gladly help where I can.

What do you guys consider cold? Look I go out and play with aircraft in the middle of winter we have a Ski=Plane Fly-In evr year that all of us Nuts from The Republic go stand out in sub-artic weather to gauk at planes . So unless you have snow then either the one will be fine.

My wife grew up in Edmonton (that’s a 40 deg below winter folks – both c and f) and she says she’s never been as cold there then as at a British airshow. 😉 Try the Spring one. 😀

Come and see us too….

Hi CM,

If you can fit a trip to Old Warden in (30 minutes ish from Duxford by road) I’ll give you a go in the PT22 or the Magister (the latter only if you are anything as lardy as I am….!)

A ‘behind the scenes’ should be possible too.

We also have a fairly new wooden (!) 4 seater if you want to visit some of the 8th Air Force bases.

Best regards

Rob, going by past years, the Spring show is bloody cold. And also going by past years, the Autumn show is also bloody cold.

They are also both held on Sundays, which might cause problems for the timings you’ve mentioned.

I think the Duxford spring show is a two dayer on 7th and 8th May as it’s the VE Day 60th anniversary weekend. 🙂

My gut feel? I’d say go for the Spring show. Reason being that you’re more likely to find another aviation event on the Saturday so that you can get two events in one weekend… 😉
