Hi again people been a long time since i have been about!
I have a question to ask,I am currently working at Whistable in Kent on the coast and as u look out to sea i can see the Isle of Sheppy and somedays i think maybe even Southend on Sea? An usually most mornings after about 1030ish on a clear day i can always see and hear the drone of a DC3 coming across from Southend way towards Whistable fairly high up on a occasion there has been what i think is maybe a DC4? Anybody have any clues where they come from who they belong too and where are they going just intrigued to know.
Just being nosey i guess!;)

MalcomT (DC3Malcolm) supplied these pics. All taken in 2000, the air-to-air were takem from G-AMPZ on a trip back from Biggin Hill to Coventry, somewhere over Warwickshire.

Though this one pretends to be, I am not sure. It is a former Aeronavale C-47 at the St Mere Eglise museum in D-Day livery

More of the same….how do I “depixelate” to get them bigger ?
The landing KG661 shots were 20 Sept 1978, the air to air 01 June 1979, I have no dates for the Tempelhof and ZA947 air to air shot

The gondola on AF is some form of Radar test bed – unfortunatly the modifications are so substantial they can’t be undone.
Dakota2 – I think the red thing on the wing (well the only thing I can see!) is the aileron control lock.

Does anyone know of any C-47’s still flying today, that participated in the D-Day airborne invasion or flew in the Market Garden parachute drop in the second world war? Would be very interested in finding out!!

The Dak on floats is scary!!! 🙂
Great pics everybody, I noticed several Daks still have the P&W sticker logo on the NACAs, when we bought some spares for our Wasp I got even one of those huge Dak stickers, and was thinking about making a wall watch with it 🙂
Cheers
Alex
P.S.
The one with that gondola is really ugly! Is it a radar gondola or what?

Edit : This was a 17.9mb pic size 2806 x 2237 – I reduced it to 300 x 239 to give a 210kb pic
Q …how do I reduce pic size to less than 300kb and still have decent screen size, cos this is too d*** tiny !

Ok as promised, some shots of PY taken today. Despite appearances, the next four weeks will see some dramatic reassembly happening and hopefully some ground runs as well.
