A lovely vessel, I was fortunate to be at the Trinity House Depot at Great Yarmouth, where she was tied up, and having a re fit, I was given a guided tour by one of the “Chippies” who was working on her at the time.
That was a sight worth seeing, also happened to be one of the few times I never had a camera with me:rolleyes:

Is that the very same Waverley to be seen plying its trade in the Thames Estuary these days?

We used to rent a little flat overlooking that harbour–one week in July.
In those far off days there was a cinema in the street–my dad took me to see ‘A Bridge Too Far’ there.

I also remember the paddle steamer Waverley doing trips from there. To Lundy I think.

I was last there two years ago, “rescue day” in the harbour right there where the statue is. Like others, happy childhood memories, I spent some time there while on honeymoon, but like all English seaside towns they must be suffering in the current climate (economic and meteorological) so good luck to them….. not my cup of tea :eek:but to each their own….. if it attracts some visitors…. all for the better.

Let’s hope it gets nicked overnight by some thoughtful metal thieves….
