David Beckham visits troops in Afghanistan

Becks quite rightly described his visit to British troops as ” an honour “.

Have you ever been on the receiving end of one of these morale-boosting visits ?

Are they valuable ? If you were in that situation, which celebrities would you most like to see ?

I am sure the football loving guys and gals out there would be glad to see such a “hero” as Posham Beckham turn up in the heat and dust to spend a little time with real heroes. Me, I’m afraid to say the cynic in me would be saying it is just another PR stunt arranged by some smartarse suit in the offices Poshandbeckham Ltd…..

I’d rather spend the time in a longdrop myself…

True indeed.
I never had Becks down as super-intelligent,given that squeaky voice and the way he continually says, ” You know ? “,but I have to say that if I was offered a weekend in Afghanistan I’d politely make my excuses.

An intelligent human being.;) It’s not the age that matters, BB, it’s what’s between the ears that matters.

Hmm.
OK, analyse that.
Thatch…….OK, I can see need to overcome her power.
Robinson…..Was a bit of a looker, keeping that way by more and more hemming around the zip at the back.

Widdicombe. GET YOUR COAT!

To be honest I have little time for either of them. They both appear perfect tabloid fodder and both of them have left their better days behind them, says he, stifling a yawn…………….:(

Mein Thatch! Now we’re talking – she approached me in a dream the other night, accompanied by Ann Widdecome and Anne Robinson:)

I said that aloud, didn’t I….

Q1.
Yes, my team was visited by Thatch after we did a lot of work for the Falklands. I did not like her, but to take the time to visit, and speak to every one of us….asking proper questions with genuine interest, and her thank-you’s seemed really genuine made it a memorable occasion and it did boost morale.

As for Becks, love or hate him, he has scored some of the best free-kick goals ever seen – yes, even better than the Brazillian ones from World Cups gone by. He’s of course an old man now (In footy terms) so he’s lost pace and some skill.
If one ignores the infidelity, he has and is a reasonable diplomat for Football and Sport in general. And of course, the gals can look at him.
I’m sure the troops enjoyed the visit and the banter. Can’t have banter with the likes of Brown, or the present Ant and Dec in #10.

Oh, and I don’t support any of the teams he’s played for, apart from England. In fact at the height of his career he was on the Red side of town! I’m a Blue!

What is this? Misogynists Anonymous?

Stay on topic and tone down the personal stuff, please.

Some of the postings in this thread would have been modded out in many other respectable Internet forums, I kid you not.

Thanks

Wouldn’t she just? I always maintain they should never have nicknamed her Posh Spice, why?

Perhaps a well honed sense of irony? 😀

A) she’s not posh.

No but she’s got the turned-up nose to be. And she was the only one who didn’t dress in a chav stylie iirc :diablo:

B) If she smiled her face would crack, Grumpy Spice would have been more apt.

The face wouldn’t, but I suspect the various layers of plaster, sorry make-up, smeared on it would crack…

Technically she is posh, since her Dad used to drive her to school in a gold Roller.
Anyway,I doubt that she could cope with the desert sand with her bunions.
