Elderly folks

Do you think our elderly men and women are treated fairly by the Government in this Country as opposed to Europeans ?.And why is it so many DESERVING elderly do not get or find it hard to get what they are entitled to ?.

Don’t be silly.

Nobody said it was up to you to sort it all out. Why are you pretending otherwise?

You, and others, have described the problem in detail – and I think we would all agree that it IS a problem.

But what we need isn’t endless repetitive description of the problem. What we need is answers.

Can anyone actually suggest any, or are we just going to have yet another thread of endless complaining?

For a start, I would like to point out I am not silly, I am merly stating my opinions, and seeing what others say,if stating your opinion is silly, then there are a lot of us on this forum. Now to get back to a hopefully more sensible conversation.

I agree with what you say, up to a point, as regards what the answer is, I take it your referring to the family/ies who have never worked, Have not the Government plans drawn up to stop them from their benefits they are claiming?.and get them back into work, but with unemployment running , the last time I looked was 2.5 mill, I doubt if even that will work. I like yourself would like to know the answer. You pay Income Tax the same as I, and millions of others, why should we subsidise their way of life.

Nail/head inkworm. It is a well known fact there are families, mother, father, and children of working age, none of which have ever done a days work in their lives, and as long as they can get away with it, they will do.

So, what’s your answer to the problem?

Whilst I agree with the unfairness of those who are careless enough to become pregnant (regardless of who is responsible for the contraception) the one factor that has to be taken into account is the welfare of the child involved, they do grow up seeing how easy it is to get something for nothing and 16 years later the cycle will repeat itself.

Withdrawing benefits and taking away housing will have a very negative effect on the young child also, sadly I don’t know what the solution is.

Lincoln 7.

“I was told that the District Nurses would visit me every week.
I saw two, but only once. they have failed to do the job they are getting paid for.I have never seen either of them since the last week of Aug last year.
I am a none entity as far as many things, I have found out.”

A simple call to the FSHA, the Hospital Trust whose care you are under and the District Nurse’s themselves would soon resolve that issue.

“As I have stated in another post, I had the cane by the Head Master for talking in the classroom, didn’t do it again, so I suppose the teacher gained my repect,, inasmuch as it didn’t happen again.”

That’s not respect, that’s just self preservation, and if you really think respect can be earned through punishment then I suggest you’re part of the problem not the solution. An analogy. Hitler commanded obedience by the punishments he imposed on those he deemed to be unfit/surplus to requirements/opposition. Did those he treated in that way, right up to the point where the Zyklon B was dropped through the hatches respect him? Of course not, you’re talking about fear, not respect.

“Respect can come back, but I am afraid it will have to be forced back.”

See above, how do you force someone to be respectful? You can’t.

Lincoln also talks an awful lot of nonsense. He states that the people of India wouldn’t put their relatives into care. What utter rot. There are many care homes now specifically set up for the care of elderly Asians.

“I.M.H.O. if you get pregnant, in todays modern society, it’s your fault, they have the morning after pill, the contraceptive pill, coil etc, etc.”

And you accept then, even advocate, that the responsibility for contraception lies completely with the woman? I thought you had to be a lot older than 70 to qualify as a dinosaur!

Kev regarding the following.
A) I would not wish to drop the two nurses in the proverbial, I may need them in the future.
B)In your mind Kev, it may have been self preservation, in mine however it was respect, that I should have respected the fact he was teaching me something.
C)Please read again my posting, re the judiciary system
D) I am not talking nonsence at all, I have spoken and have friends who originate from India, and this subject has cropped up before with them, they wouldn’t put their elderly into care homes, even more so in this Country
E). You know as well as I do, it takes two to tango, so yes the man has to share his part of resposibility, If you read my post yet again, I was referring to the young girl.
F) I am afraid your veiled remark about me being a dinosaur, at 70, has no effect on me at all so sarcasm has been wasted.
You are entitled to your opinions, as I, and others are theirs.

So what can be done to fix the problem ?
In a global perspective we are not that badly off.

Do you mean financially?

When we elect a government that does what it says it will do, when we have schools which send out into the world 99% percent of our children literate and numerate and with a sense of responsibilty for themselves as well as others, when we have reorganised our priorities so that we have the support for the ill and the frail which their families cannot provide, when we have re-educated our citizens to understand that there are no rights without responsibilities, then we will have made a good start in solving the problem. But there will be a lot more to do.

Good Hiding! are the 2 words I will suggest!

As I have stated in another post, I had the cane by the Head Master for talking in the classroom, didn’t do it again, so I suppose the teacher gained my repect,, inasmuch as it didn’t happen again.

Right – just had to chip in on this one! I put it down to a total lack of respect that is sweeping through society in general. An “Im alright Jack” attitude.

Some of the medics/Doctors/Nurses whatever, (But not all of them I make this point quite clear – NOT ALL) do not seem to have any compassion for the dignity of the elderly during Hospital admission. Again, lack of respect.

Society seems to have lost respect for any form of Authority, starting with family life, no respect and discipline.

What younger folk don’t realise is that one day (and that one day is not too far away) they too will be elderly……………….

I.M.H.O I think that the Judiciary system needs a damn good overhaul, the youth of today just do as they like, knowing that if they get caught and have to go to Court, they will in the main just get a slap on the wrist. The penalty system should reflect the fact that respect should be shown to other people, property, parents, and even themselves.
Respect can come back, but I am afraid it will have to be forced back.
It’s only those in a position of power that can do this.
One thing that realy gets me, is when a case is perused by the C.P.S. is they advise not to prosecute, as it’s not in the public interested.

The state seems incapable of spending our money where it is most needed. It doesn’t matter whether it is caring for the ill or the old, educating us, protecting us or defending us the money never goes where it is most required.
