Hello guys and gals 🙂
Sunday 19th September has been confirmed as the date for our planned get-together at the Grand Venue Cinema, Ramsey, near Huntington.
The programme for the day currently runs like this (circumstances permitting):
2:00pm – Doors open
2:45pm – Film show starts with “Angels One Five”
Then continues with “Dark Blue World” and the “Making of Dark Blue World”
7:45pm – Film show scheduled to end
8.30pm – Reconvene in the “Jolly Sailor” pub, a short walk away and drink place dry.
Other info:
* The nearest place to stay is the George Hotel, High Street, Ramsey, approximately 400 yards from the Cinema. Prices start at around £30.
* Bus services – there is a bus stop outside the cinema. Regular(ish) services from Peterborough and Huntingdon.
* Nearest train stations are – Huntingdon (8 Miles) and Peterborough (12 miles) both of which are on the East Coast mainline.

As far as cost goes, a small contribution to cover the cost of hiring “Dark Blue World” would be much appreciated – should be around the same as one or two pints. The rights-holder of “Angels One Five”, Canal Plus, have very generously agreed to waive their usual charge for showing the film, on the grounds this is a private, non-theatric event, for which I am very grateful.

Is there anything I’ve forgotten, Biggleworth? 🙂
Sooooooooo…who’s coming? 😀

Sorry I couldn’t make it.
So what are we going to do next then ?
Andy in Sheds had suggested a Christmas meet, perhaps at OW? That would be good. Maybe something in between now & then? Depends how much the winter airshow lack bites…

Becka/Nick,
I would also like to add my thanks to the both of you for organising the afternoon/evening, I really enjoyed it.
It was also great to be able to put faces to some of the all too familiar names.
So what are we going to do next then ? 😀 😀

Thanks to all who turned-up, and good to hear you all enjoyed it. BIG thanks to Ashley for sorting the copy of Angles One Five, and of course IWM and Canal+ for allowing the screening.
Andy, you’re more than welcome for the tour of the projection room, always happy to explain some of the finer points to those interested.

Glad to hear you enjoyed yourselves, gentlemen (and ladies ;)) I enjoyed the show too, and it was good to catch up with you all 🙂
Becka
P.S. Andy, Bigglesworth/Nick was the projectionist too 😉

’twas indeed a perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Watching Angels One Five and Dark Blue World (first time I’d seen that), on a big screen with excellent company, sitting on a sofa with a pint of Spitfire in my hand.
Life truly doesn’t get much better than that… 🙂
Many thanks again to Becka and Nick for organising it all. 🙂

..to Becka and Nick for organising the film show.
Attendance was a bit like a ‘Kamikaze Pilots reunion dinner’ but I for one greatly appreciated the chance to see ‘Angels one five’ in pin sharp black and white on the big screen.
Credits for the main participating aircraft always goes to the Portuguese Air Force for loaning five airworthy Hurricanes along with three from RAF stock. I had always suspected some Spitfires were used on set, apart from the period wartime footage, and sure enough at least two are clearly visible as back drop dressing. For this 1952 film, as high back aircraft, there is a good chance they were the exhibition flight aircraft K9942, X4590 or possibly P9444…..I feel some research coming on. 🙂
A very enjoyable evening.

Hi
Yes, thanks to Becka and Nick
I really enjoyed seeing the film on the big screen and I didn’t get his name but would someone pass my thanks onto the projectionist who gave us such a wonderful tour of the projection room.
Many thanks, for those that didn’t attend you missed a good little afternoon.
Cheers
Andy 🙂 🙂 🙂

Indeed it is jbs.
Ashley’s first line :p
“”Sunday 19th September has been confirmed as the date for our planned get-together at the Grand Venue Cinema, Ramsey, near Huntington.””
Granted, minor typo being Huntington as opposed to HuntingDON….
Very easy to find, plenty of parking nearby.

Side show
Hello Becka,
I am up for this.
As discussed I will bring the video DVDs of the Air to Air footage of the Seafire 47 VP441 taken this past July in Montana for the GHOSTS calendar photo shoot.
JBS has volunteered his lap top and this is very much appreciated.
This is a little side-show, for those who might be interested, after the main event, perhaps in the bar.
Best regards,
Mark12
