There seems to be a large number of the Forum Members who would like to meet up sometime – other threads suggest a meet at Old Warden on 15th May.
I can’t spend time on organising a meeting, but what I can do is arrange a PA message at all Old Warden shows advising Flypast Forum members of an RV and time. I would suggest the Flypast Stand, or the Beer Hut at, say, 1600? If you want a differrent time or place, let me know. I’ve offered the same to PPRuNers, so if you belong to that group as well, you’ll be in for a busy day!
The success or failure of this is up to you, but I reckon that it might just work. Don’t forget to wear a Flypast sticker or Badge – maybe someone could make a template that we could download, add our own name/handle, then print and wear…… Why not put one in the mag, Flypast, or have (sell?) them on the stand?
Be there or be square
🙂 🙂

One of the (many) great things about Old Warden is it’s one of the few airfields you can see from one side of to ‘tother.
Another great thing is how much it has changed (for the better) while still staying the same…
But a sensible suggestion nonetheless.

Assuming by some strange coincidence we do manage to meet at Duxford, we can discuss Old Warden then. I haven’t been for 18 years, they’ve probably moved things.

Robbo’s easy to find.
He’s the one with the two bottles and the Oxy Acetyline trolley…
Oh, Not that? the other?
Sorry. Keep misreading it Robbo. Sorry.
Still, don’t give up the day job eh?

Look forward to meeting up. Hopefully also at DX on the 9th if the RV can be narrowed down.

Is this a ‘more the merrier’ gathering or one for the established senior contributors? I will probably be there, but do not want to gate crash.

Nice man with unlimited powers at Heathrow to a well known figure:
“Importing AMERICAN road safety cones into the UK is a serious offence Mr Patterson, a very serious offence. You wish me to believe this is in the nature of some joke? With a Mr Moggy, Mr Robbo, some sleazy ‘Andy in a Bed’ and JOCK? A ‘jolly jape’ Sir? What student pranks we do get up to, don’t we, Sir. Ah-hah ha. Back to the land of the free, Sir. Don’t call again.”

Wives…
Steve
they must never be allowed to meet….
All the best
Andy.:) 🙂

So Andy, not only do I have to clear customs, find my rental car, find my way out of Heathrow, navigate to Duxford and somehow find you chaps by the Hastings or Waterloo or whatever I also have to come up with an excuse for you with your mrs. as to why you were out playing with airplanes instead of spending quality time with her on your wedding anniversary? Have I got that correct Andy?
You’re gonna get us both killed. I suggest jewelry. Always works with Mrs. Patterson. 😀

Merlins Over Malta…
Steve
You’re wrong.
I’ll be at Duxford on the 9th. Yes it is my wedding anniversary but bribes usually work.
(Damned expensive bribes I can assure you!!)
I’ve also promised Mrs Andy in Beds that a visiting Yank will give her a full explanation on May 15th as to the why of my absence on the anniversary of my marriage. Over to you on that one Steve.
😉 😉

Now that’s not a bad idea.
Also, thanks to James, who helped me get fixed up with a rental car, I’m going to be at Merlins over Malta on Sunday the 9th. James can’t make it and Andy in Beds also had some lame excuse (his wedding anniversary, this boy has got to get his priorities in order).
Of course as this will be my first experience driving in England I may still not see any of you until Old Warden on the 15th. Please take pitty on the yank in the round-a-bout.

There’s something funny about the orange cones? Funny? I don’t think so.
Dead serious.
Ask yourself – where would we be without orange cones – apart from ‘in a trafic jam’ I mean.
Mutter mutter mutter…

Hoping to make it.

I’m up for it.
Oh and dont play Poker with Robbo
The Light shining off his bald head can be a bit off putting

Robbo,
You scare me when you’re being serious. Try and use a few more 😀 😀 😀 so I’ll know if you’re just teasing me.
Note to self…I’ve got to try and understand this British thing. They’re so serious one minute and taking pictures of orange cones the next. I just don’t know???
By: srpatterson - 19th April 2004 at 04:11
Ok chaps, here’s the score…
The 15th will be my last full day in England…I have to be on a flight Sunday afternoon from Heathrow as my hall pass from Mrs. Patterson expires at midnight. I can’t really complain, as I get to spend the entire week before Old Warden touring airfields and flying museums. The last time I was over all I got to see were Cathedrals. Not that I have anything against Cathedrals, but they just don’t have the same appeal as a Hurricane doing 300KTS+ on the deck.
I think we need to make the 15th an all day blow out event. Morning at Duxford and evening at Old Warden, followed by the promised curry and warm bitter experience.
I truly look forward to meeting as many members from the forum as possible, so when you’re stateside I can reciprocate with Bar-B-Q and an icy cold Budweiser under the wing of the Sea Fury.:D
Come on now…who’s in???

That sounds like it might not be a bad idea, I’ll be up for DX as well if things go according to plan.

Seafuryfan – SR’s coming to Old Warden on the 15th.
Me and JN-4 will be there. We’re in negotiations about driving duty at the moment; looks like she’ll drive, but only if I let her drive the MG. Hmmm…
Someone mentioned about doing Duxford that morning, then Old Warden later, is that still the plan? If so, we’re a yes for that too.
By: Seafuryfan - 18th April 2004 at 23:11
I’ll be there on the 15th – look forward to seeing everyone. When is SR coming – 2nd or 15th? Like to thank him for those Seafire photos.
Papa Lima, Old Warden is a pretty small scale affair and after a look around the hangars, it’s mainly the show to watch. If your boys like old planes, you can get quite close to them on the flight line.
