Hi All,
It will be very interesting to see in the near future if they don’t get rid of some of the work force or dare I say shut the plant down as it was stated in an interview there is to be no new investment as the share holders have kicked that Idea in to touch. I think this particular saga isn’t over by a long shot.

My dear chap, one was recovering this week from last weeks trip, Duxford airshow, Stonehenge, Weymouth, Bovington Tank Museum, Portsmouth Hysterical dockyards and Oxford all in three days, covering 680 odd miles.

I use a PINE Cone, quite a large one, and I also have a good weather station mounted on the side of the house, The most reliable of the two?…The Pine Cone, opens up when good weather is on the way, and closes when bad is on the way, and the Cone was plucked from a tree that lined the river Fal.
Shame you didn’t meet up with myself and TWOTTER this week, we could have had our own Forum over a pint………:highly_amused:

I get my current news and long term weather reporting from Jim, his piece of seaweed hanging on the washing line is renowned Lincolnshire over for giving accurate long range weather forecasts, and the gossip he picks up from the weekly Womens Institute meetings puts the beeb to shame.

I am surprised you didn’t detect a little tongue in the cheek – unlike you!:) But I watch almost no news on TV, except various nations’ 24 hours news broadcasts early in the morning – it’s fascinating how many angles you get on the same story!! I take no news as verbatim, mainly because for all news broadcasters all that matters is the story and getting it on the air first, regardless of accuracy. There is too much reliance on hearsay and off the record remarks, often made for the sole purpose of planting a story.

What brings you to that conclusion Chas?, or don’t you believe any Broadcasting stations News even the Law of average means they have to be right in what they say some of the time. What do you watch, or more importantly what Stations News do you take as verbatim?.

Complete U turn, Tony. Nothing more nothing less. A salutary lesson learned and as we have both said, Salmond simply had to do as much as he could to save it. But it is not yet for sure – we’ll see….

I personally do not think Salmond could afford to lose it as it is one of the main revenue streams they were relying on for their devolution.
Hence they would have thrown money at the place.
So much for Unite and we are stronger lol, it’s ok being stronger by having lots of other core trades wrapped up in your union that you can bring into play to support those effected by any action, i.e. transport etc that will effect the business in all sectors and drive the Company to the table, but when you have an owner that says “well feck you! you wouldn’t listen! it’s not open to negotiation, it’s shut” you are then up sh*t creek without a paddle and the toilet has just been flushed..
Seems like a lot of Union back-pedaling going on and agreement to what was offered originally.

They are trying to run a business, Linc. And of course workers futures have been put on the line at different times in a year – we are just more sensitive to it before Christmas. And this row has been festering for months anyway.

Bad timing, don’t they ever think of the workers families?.

Having had first hand experience of Grangemouth I am not surprised of the events of the past few years culminating in today’s denouement. A typically blinkered play by the union without taking account of the proven tenacity of the owner nor the inevitability that Scotland could not politically allow the plant to close in the run-up to the referendum.

It’s called timing, Linc.

Ont News tonight Tony, all have agreed to the terms, so thank goodness, no redundancies just before Christmas.
Why do so many Companies go BUST or lay off thousands of employees just before Christmas every year.
In this case however, alls well that ends well.
