As there are several music threads on the go….I see that nice young Matt Bellamy has been given the ‘Guitarist of the Decade’ award by Total Guitar magazine. A worthy winner IMHO, having seen Muse both at Wembley and the O2; got me thinking of the other decades and my own purely personal choices;
1930’s – Robert Johnson
1940’s – Les Paul
1950’s – Jimmy Rogers
1960’s – Who else but the legendary Mr. Hendrix
1970’s – I’m going to bend the rules here and select two; Jimmy Page and I could never leave out the sublime Rory Gallagher
1980’s – Stevie Ray Vaughan
1990’s – Joe Satriani

For me it would be the following although to be fair there are many more I could add.
I have avoided Jimmy Hendrix and Eric Clapton despite liking them both
1960s Dave Davies- Gave the riff that started heavy metal
1970s Lindsey Buckingham or Dave Gilmour sorry if that’s cheating
1980s Mark Knopfler- Just love the sound he creates
1990s Slash
2000s David Keuning of the Killers maybe but jury still out on this one
