The news story in #423 has been going on for some time, and is a very strange case. I find it hard to believe the victim genuinely thought she was being serviced by a man. If she had to wear a blindfold then surely her other senses would be heightened, and somewhere between the smell of the ‘guy’, the sound of her breathing or some other factor would have been apparent. Also the synthetic nature of the prosthetic appendage would have been obvious, no? The whole thing is a bit dodgy, and eight years is a bloody long time considering the sentences they hand out to rapists, molesters, etc etc… Apparently the guilty party had a history of impersonating men, stretching back to her early teens. I think she needs some sort of psychological evaluation, not a lengthy prison sentence.

My newspaper carries to-day a rather titillating and, if it wasn’t for the outcome, a rather amusing theme of sexual duplicity. I know that many of this forums readers are of both a nervous and religious disposition, so I will refrain from salaciously graphic detail.

It appear that two ladies were having ‘an affair’. One of the ladies was of an orthodox sexual orientation; the other wasn’t. In order to convince her orthodox partner that she was having an affair with a ‘man’, the other equipped herself with the appendages of a bloke – evidently something to do with rubber – and made her orthodox partner wear a mask so helping to maintain the fiction.

If that had been in the UK, the boy and is mum would be in custody, a collection would be organised on facebook to give the poor unfortunate who lost his life a decent funeral and the other guy would be in line for compo for stress.

Not in favour of a youngster having access to guns, but that turned out well.

And of course SF, they are both right. As we all know for certain the earth has cooled and warmed hundreds of times over the millennia, still does and will continue so to do until it dies.

You feel that many of us, particularly of an older generation, have closed, blinkered minds on the subject of climate change etc: you sight the views of “learned” scientists who support the theory of man made global warming, but you see it isn’t that far back when the considered opinion of these same “learned” scientists or more likely their predecessors, were warning of the onrushing ice age, perhaps you may understand more than a degree of cynicism.

Oh I don’t know, give it a couple of weeks, and perhaps the kid will have another chance with another burglar.bet his mother will now get her kid an AK47, to give him a better chance of shooting ALL the gang.

I check the various energy offers annually, Geoff, and have switched three times in the last five years and am still paying slightly less per year than I did five years ago. Give me competition every time!!

You also omit to mention the surcharges we all have to pay on our energy bills because of the huge and increasing subsidies paid to providers of alternative energy sources without which they would not invest in them because they are so inefficient. In some conditions more than 10 times the normal KwH prices are being paid. Utter madness.:mad:

** In fact, Geoff, I am reminded today by my current provider to check tariffs for the next 12 months. As it happens I can save more, than the current provider’s best offer increase for the next 12 months, with three other providers. So it will be switching time shortly!!:)

Did you actually read my post ?

Yes we haven’t helped with all our pollution but there are plenty of natural pollutants released into the air over the
same time period we have been taking records all we have done is added to the natural problem nothing more nothing less

I look at it from what I have read and watched from both sides of the argument, not what is the latest fashion in conspiracy theories as you are suggesting. It’s common sense that a company whose profits rely on producing energy from natural resources does not want some boffin who comes up with a way to provide free energy or come to that matter cheaper energy as what would the point off his now defunct energy source (Literally over night) be ? There are all sorts of green energy theories in particular free energy inventions that over the years have never gotten off the ground simply because nobody will invest in them. The reason that nobody will invest in them is simple, those who make money from energy would no longer do so if they took these ideas on.

At the end of the day it all comes down to one thing ‘GREED’ by those at the top who do not want any change, just like most company’s instead of making a decent profit they want bigger and bigger profits all the time, which leads to Higher prices for the consumer/Job lay offs/Cheaper materials used in whatever products/Farming out the work to cheaper labour while closing down their indigenous factories all so they can make more and more profit for less and less investment.

John, Yes, very unusual, however, did he inhale the smoke?. I did read, many years ago that although Winston Churchil was frequently, if not always seen with a Cigar in his hand, he never inhaled the smoke. True or not, I don’t know.
