Although I respect your views and generally agree, in life one cannot expect others to communicate in the same language as one would choose. In other words, relax and let live. Some posts are succinct, in plain speech, this may come across as abrasive but charm and tact cannot be demanded and it is not always appropriate.

Please do put shackles through my mainspar and hang me – hanging things being a subject being discussed elsewhere in yet more threads. Irony is clearly beyond our new friends. Oh well. And yes, I would turn down Mr Friedkin – unless it was a flight as camera platform to photograph a proper warbird.

As Droptank so astutely observed, I’m not allowed out on my own. It’s so terrible, I am such a no-hoper that I would get terribly lost and end up asking the control tower to put out a call for my mummy. Fortunately they keep me safe from harm.

And it’s true, we are all ‘dull assuming’ ‘old boys’. We should feel ourselves fortunate to have some younger members to stop us being so boring. And to protect the reputation of those who bring us new things to see at Duxford. Clearly having a direct line to TFC through Digby is a major advantage. He was so right about the P38 after all. You proved us all wrong there, didn’t you old chap. I most definately fall into the clueless category.

Ok Chris, i won’t hang anything. Just myself. And on the plus side, it is better than a Skyraider, and less smelly.

Now, whats this about a media badge trick? You haven’t answered that yet Digby. I am intrigued.

Not quite the horses mouth I suspect. I imagine that IWM really only know what the organisers in the innards of TFC tell them, there are sure to be one or two surprise items as in previous years. That’s the best thing about Legends.

With regards to Digby’s comment regarding this “dull assuming board”…sorry you saw the board this way…although the board has it’s quiet moments, we do have some lively discussions/banter here that I enjoy (guess if it’s dull, I must be a boring old fart before my time at the age of 24!:p )

I for one, am always happy to see new members on the board…after all, variety is the spice of life 🙂

I don’t think the T51 is a wast of sky at all its something different for Legends as there has never been a two seater (correct me if I’m wrong) since WW2
I like the idea of it in 78th group markings maybe it would look good in the orange paint job with the checkered nose of the 78th’s two seater hack

I dont think these chaps are abrasive. They are entitled to an opinion as much as Snapper is. It is just baffling that anyone interested in warbirds or aviation history would refer to a TF-51 as ‘a waste of sky’. It may not meet with everyones aesthetic requirments but it is far from ‘ugly’. Looks apart, does it not fullfill a very useful role in training todays warbird pilots and giving a bit of an idea about what it must have been like to the rest of us (those that can afford it anyway)?

To a certain degree I agree with you, the new members have challenged the accepted views of the previous board membership and stirred up a lot of discussion.
There is however a certain amount of history here where at times things are said in a light hearted manner which is understood by those who have been knocking around for a while. Certain postings from the newer members have made me chuckle recently and they obviously all have their own intimate knowledge of the subject area they are interested in.

Oh and Snapper, if you even so much as think of hanging a Mustang from anything again I may find the urge to send you down to look for Harrier bits :p No matter which Mustang it is they are all beautiful pieces of machinery and do not in any way waste sky.

Damien B yes as you put it every board gets them it’s a fact of life and no Digby and droptank are two different people. If we seem abrasive then thats your problem it’s probably because we don’t conform to the ideas of the old boys of this forum and have our own veiws on matters shame really as I thought people had a right to an opinion, abrasive or not.
Also snapper why dont we put shackles through your mainspar and hag you from the rafters.
Damien you said about abrasive comments and people then what about putting a Tf51 mustang on a poll or shackles through its’ mainspar as Snapper sugested, his opinion no doubt but could be construed as abrasive I rest my case I could go on and troll through other peoples posts and get some more but I can’t be

DAVID BURKE the LA-9 is at duxford as ASHLEY points out and if you think a british built LYSANDER beats a LA-9 you need to get out more.

Thats old news by the way,approx 3 weeks old to be exact (nothing against LYSANDERS though) nice warbird.

Back to the original topic…yes the LA-9 has arrived at Duxford…a team of engineers are currently reassembling her…her wings are still packed up but the rest of the aircraft looks pretty complete…I look forward to seeing her fly at Duxford…

With regards to the other arrival…it’s not for the OFMC by the looks of it…didn’t have time to check out Hanger 2 today, will have a look tomorrow…

Media badge trick? What on earth is that all about?

Suggestion of a Mustang on a pole is for the benfit of Alexis, who would like to see Lancasters either A: Corkscrewing through the air, and B: stuck on top of poles. Seeing as how to him the Mustang is what S Sugar is to Lancman, if you had been here a bit longer, you would have known what I was on about. (As spotted by Kev).

As for upsetting TFC, I don’t really think that they would be so thin skinned as to even take note of a comment like that.

Now, does anybody else here get the impression that Digby and Droptank may just be the same person? It does look that way to me, on account of neither having a clue about spelling, grammar or punctuation, and the same kind of manner. Very reminiscent of Hellaids postings. I wonder what an ISP check might reveal.

Mind you, the TF-51 IS STILL ugly, and a waste of sky. Instead of a pole, lets put shackles through the mainspar and hang it up in some dark, out of the way corner.
