A bit on the weak side for my tastes, IIRC, but t’other half is extremely partial to their Old Growler.

Well… there’s no turning back. I’m a firm fan of Kentish Ale, Spitfire being top priority and like to dabble with other brews when possible. After Chailey last year i was left somewhat unimpressed with the Harvey’s Sussex range of brown water. But i am very pleased with Suffolks finest.
So thankyou Moggy, for inadvertantly introducing me to one the finest Ales of the land! 😀

Don’t shed any tears for Fremlins, it was cr*p, or more accurately, it was when I knew it in the late sixties.
I suspect it had been swallowed up by the Whitbread Empire by then so it may have been better before the takeover.

Any company that has a pub called the Battle of Britain with a French roundel as the sign doesn’t deserve any sympathy anyway.

Yes, it’s a shame about Fremlins. I was there earlier this week – I assume you know there is a massive shopping complex on the original site now? – and parked in the new House of Fraser multi story. Walking out of the Car park entrance on Earl Street side they have kept the main Breweries Gates with the Elephant carving in the stone. Can’t imagine what the place used to look like now with HMV, Topshop etc sprawled over the place like a rash… :rolleyes:

Well i’ve just booked advance tickets for both days. I did the same last year and enjoyed the whole experience, camping etc.

I was in a pub called the Park View in Brighton about 6 months ago and saw a pump with a badge saying ‘Adnams Broadside’. I thought, “where have i heard that name before… oh yes, that Moggy on the old planes forum is practically their marketing director i must give it a whirl!”
