Well this year will be my forth Flying Legends, having experienced 2001, 2002 and 2004.
However, i have always missed the oppertunity to visit some of the local Inns to sample some local ale. I can’t help noticing how often the Red Lion pops up in threads about Duxford and ‘the place to be’ afterwards seems to be the aformentioned establishment.
Could the regulars kindly point out how i get to this historic pub and also where else they recommend for relaxing with a well earned pint of british ale after a hard day’s plane spotting?

I would like to go, but as AF Junior will be with me, don’t know whether that will be possible?

Personally I never decide until I’m confident of the weather forecast. I prefer Saturday but it really doesn’t make a lot of difference.

Snap – I think it is slightly less busy on the Saturday. I think it a shame that they don’t do advanced tickets that can be used on either day. Those of us who wait with bated breath for Julie Reinger’s forecast get lumbered for the full price.

The Lion is pretty relaxed about children in the early evening. Chances are we’ll all be out in the garden at Snappers Bench anyway.
So yes, he’ll be fine.
But what are you going to be doing whilst Junior is there :diablo:

I’ve discovered that, contrary to popular belief, the colonials can indeed brew something that tastes like beer instead equine urine.
The brew in question is RedHook ESB & it tastes EXACTLY like Gales HSB.
I was surprised to find out that my local filling station (Mojave Desert here) sells Old Peculier…. & some godawful Welsh stuff..

The Red Lion (Well the one with the roadkill platter and Adnams) is just the other side of the M11 from the Dux Superairspacehangar in a village called Whittlesford. To get to it you need to drive about a mile down the A505 (?) and turn left at the big sign saying “Red Lion”
If you are walking, it’s closer.
Chequers at Fowlmere used to have a very good reputation for Top Nosh, but reports of late have varied.
Plenty more in the area.
