For those of you who are going today, and I know this is late, but I overslept.
The weather down here is almost perfect, the wind has dropped and there are big fluffy clouds amongst the blue, oh, and it’s warm.
The wind is from the west so take offs will be from the Superhanger end.
Due to madams birthday I’m going tomorrow, however she’s been pretty ill all week and I can feel the virus creeping up on me, so keep away from the long haired old git on the tank bank if you don’t want to catch anything nasty.
Hope everyone has an enjoyable time, whatever is or isn’t there, whatever the cost of beer and the state of the burgers etc etc.

The enclosure can be used by guests of members provided they are encouraged to buy some merchandise, or join at the reduced rate of £10 on the day. This is a real bargain and your brother won’t have to pay to get on the flight line walk. For an extra £5 you could upgrade to family membership.
If your brother doesn’t do any of the above we mark him with hi viz paint so that everyone will see he didn’t.:D
Basically, he can come in with you.

I have a question about the Friends of The Fighter Collection enclosure. I am going with my brother on Sunday and as I have a friends membership am wanting to use it. Does my brother need a membership or can we take guests into the enclosure.
Thanks in advance.

Christ. What is it with all the whingeing about what will or won’t be there and what will or won’t fly? I’ve been to the last three Legends and not been disappointed once. You will see what you will see and as always it will be a real spectacle. Try thinking your glass is half full just once.
As long as everything that goes up comes down safely anything else is a bonus.
And everyone who whinges about the food, the toilets, the weather, the concessions, the stalls, the lack of stalls, and blah blah blah ad infi-bloody-nitum, well just don’t go. If you can’t enjoy yourselves at Legends I really wonder why you bother going, especially after the massive efforts that go on behind the scenes.
And one more thing. If you see an engineer, no matter how ugly he is, just say thank you, or at the very least, don’t insult him because he stood in front of your camera. Without them you’d be seeing bu**er all.
Regards,
kev35

To answer a couple of your questions Manston Airport,
P-51C, G-PSIC was bought by Jim Beasley and now is based in the USA.
Hangar 11 don’t seem to appear at Legends, can’t remember the reason though.
Thank you blurrkup dame another great warbird gone to the States, Oh yeah I remember Hanger 11 where not there last year was it due to how the show is runned?

any news on whether pink lady is attending this year. it would be surprising if it doesn’t. Also shame the shuttleworth hurri isn’t attending so there will not be a fleet air arm flypast. Good looking show as per usual.
Also, is the SHF A26 not going to appear again?

Moggy
Percival Mew Gull G-AEXF, pre-war racing aeroplane, much modified by the late Alex Henshaw (who later went on to be a Spitfire test pilot at Castle Bromwich etc), and who flew it to Cape Town and back in just over four days (IIRC), which set a record that stands to this day.
See Henshaw’s book “Flight of the Mew Gull” for the story of the Cape Town trip.
Paul F
As the remaining Arrow Active (small pre-war biplane racing/aerobatic aeroplane) is also scheduled to appear I guess they are planning a tribute to Alex Henshaw, who died earlier this year – he flew one of the Arrow Actives before he bought the Mew Gull. PF
Thanks Moggy and Paul for the information 😎 IS Hanger 11 going to be there? and just wondering how old is Stephen Grey( Think thats his name) now?

By: DIGBY - 5th July 2007 at 20:38
Sorry guys that I didn’t get the Sea Fury id quite right!
Just trying to sort out Permit to Fly for the P-39, Permit to Test for the P-40, radio annual and survey, radiator removal and refit on the P-51D, aileron cables to remake on the Staggerwing, mag drop on the Mk. XIV, fly the SpitV, Corsair, Bearcat etc etc for DA renewals for the weekend. Rebuild a Gladiator, Beafighter and a Spitfire 18. Think about shipping a Merlin to the USA for overhaul and another to Italy, bring back shipping stands from the US so we can ship a P-51 Stateside for the Gathering of Mustangs, and thats just before breakfast!
Have to go Miss Velma has just arrived!
Yeh right am sure you are:) 🙂
