Mark Hanna Report Published

I see from the Aeroplane website that the latest edition contains a translation of the Spanish accident investigation report into the tragic accident that claimed the life of Mark Hanna at Sabadell in 1999. 🙁

Did the new Flypast publish any of it? I don’t see any mention on their web page.

Has anyone already read it?

It will be interesting to see what the findings were.

Cheers

Paul

It feels very strange reading the report. It is something that you feel inextricably drawn to even though you know what it contains will bring feelings of sadness coupled with memories of better times.
We all lost someone who we felt we ‘knew’ that day.
May I suggest that out of respect to Mark and his family we do not enter into too much of a debate on the forum into the why’s, wherefores and what if’s.

May I also suggest that tonight we give thanks for a life that brought something special to so many people and raise a silent glass to Mark, his family, all those who have ‘gone before’ and to those who continue.
May your God’s protect and keep you.

Phil.

Hi Steve,
Yes, on all 109 & derivitives, the fuel tank is an ‘L’ under the pilot. Often bad news. Still, it was in the plot’s lap in the Spitfire and Hurricane, not much better.

The DH4 had it between the pilot and gunner, and a photo of the Swordfish with the panels off is sobering. c of g has a lot to answer for.

I had no idea the fuel tank was located under the pilots seat in the Buchon. Very sobering. Rest in peace Mark.

Thanks for that english link paulmcmillan. It is sad to read this detailed report but it is part of our recent history. 🙁 It has given me some more info that I didn’t see before.

Greets,

Well, that is more or less what I saw that saturday afternoon. Haven’t seen the report so far. Is the original Spanish report around somewhere? BW Roger
