There are clearly reasonable numbers of people who do genuinely want to see a leftwards lurch. On some other plane, I kind of understand it. As a philosophy, it promises much, and to those who have never experienced its problems, it will be very attractive.

The point is that you could aim the same comment at a wide range of people. To say all trade unionists are self serving is about as logical as saying all Tories are self serving, and as accurate ( just in case I am not making my self clear- I don’t think either statement is true)

Quite. It’s a no brainer as the current argot has it.

Although I am theoretically in favour of nationalized, or at least partially nationalized utitlities and infrastructure, I can also see the huge failings in doing so. Nationalization destroyed many of our industries, and allowed the Unions to hold the country to ransom. They have consistently abused their power, and the public would be very reluctant to hand them that power again.

What is the problem with anyone having ideas, these have to be put before Parliament before anything gets changed, frankly it’s preferable to the Tories passion for flogging off all the country’s assets and essential services, to the financial circus, the only one’s to benefit are the speculators, venture capitalists and foreign investors.

Before condemning his proposals just think a little, does it feel good that profits from a good chunk of Britain’s privatised railways is used to subsidise France’s nationalised railways?, isn’t it great that our energy supplies are dependent on foreign companies?, absolutely marvelous that medical services are being glad handed to private companies who operate purely for profit rather than medical care or need?

Like many am also uneasy about what appears to be too cosy with terrorists, however he is correct in that sooner or later we will have to talk to these people or wipe them out.

Not at all. If he actually accepts that the key to energy security is to kick the ludicrous, brainwashed, misguided, illiterate, climate change energy based policies into the long grass, then he deserves a hearing. Other than that totally bonkers….

Holding a minute’s silence for members of the IRA who were killed by the SAS is utterly bonkers…

…if he didn’t hold a minute’s silence for every victim of the IRA it is virtually treasonable!
