Having turned on the news over breakfast I find that Nelson Mandella is still dead. When I quickly tuned it yesterday it was wall-to-wall moving his body to the burial location. All channels. Today, we are promised ‘live coverage’ throughout the day. Oh joy.

However, with one BBC journo trying to get an interviewee to liken Madiba to Jesus my heart did rather sink as I prepared myself for having to go through all this again in three days time.

Back to something more interesting. Now, what is happening over on the Burma thread?

Gerry Adams is selected as part of the “Guard of Honour” for Nelson Mandelas coffin.

Nothing really more to add to that…

If I hear, or see much more regarding Mandela, I’ll scream.I bet our Queen wouldn’t get as much coverage as he has, when she pops her clogs.

I quite agree. Throughly bored with the whole story.

As for the Queen, we’re bound to get three weeks’ blanket coverage in the tabloids.

That’s an oversimplification of what I said. I do selectively read some papers on line and selectively watch some TV, but neither are necessary to be well informed. And if you are unable to deny the point I made then I rest my case.

There’s been no discussion about the state of black South Africa, nor of the continuing existence of forms of apartheid in Africa and elsewhere. So we are discussing Mandela’s legacy. In any case, take your own advice, and tune out if you are bored…..

Well Chas, By your own admission in the past, you don’t read Newspapers, or watch very little Telly, now make your mind up, you can’t have your cake and eat it..:p

Indeed – the caste system must be one of the most mutually exclusive on the planet.
