Has anyone sampled the variety of six new flavours Walkers have released, after suggestions by the public? After a vote, one will be made permanent.
I tried them out and here are my thoughts:
Builders Breakfast: 8/10
Cajun Squirrel: 7/10
Chilli and Chocolate: 5/10
Crispy Duck and Hoisin: 9/10
Fish and Chips: 2/10
Onion Bhaji: 6/10
The Builders Breaky, I reckoned I could taste the eggs and bacon which I liked. Could only taste the Chilli and not the Choc. The Duck reminded me most of the original product. And, despite my liking of Scampi Fries and Prawn Cocktail, the F&C’s almost made me gag! Smelt too much of actual fish, the ‘2/10’ is generous!
Just a light hearted discussion, I do realise there are greater issues out there going on 🙂
P.S. Mods, any chance of a poll?

American Cheeseburger was borderline for an entry in the what made you swear today thread……
The Roast Dinner one would also qualify. You feel the need to comb your tongue after sampling that particular culinary delight…

Re: Rude comments about Hersey bars and Oreos…that’s a laugh coming from a nation that produces Smarties….I’ll stick with M&Ms. 😀
BTW: You also couldn’t produce a decent burger until McDonalds and Burger King came along. I still have nightmares about the Wimpy I ate in 1975…but I digress…:D
My UK nephew loves his root beer when he visits….but to anyone over 30, they can’t seem to stand the stuff.
If you’re undecided, next time you’re in the US or Canada, try a A&W Drive in or some from a store. Also, some small micro-brews make good regional stuff.
Also, I’m always (slightly) amused by your crisp flavours…some wierd stuff. 😮
We seem to stick with the classics….BBQ, Sour Cream & Onion, salt & vinegar….plus a lot of corn chip items.

My Granddaughter was eating these disgusting smelling things the other day…i pointed out to her Mother that they contained 621 (MSG) …her reply was so what???

I didn’t, and wouldn’t vote (They charged FFS!) but I agree with the result.
The others were just messing with the latest smell-chemicals (Which they all are anyway).

Thanks for highlighting the news Steve, as it happens, all the way from Oz 😉
One of the better flavours! Would happily munch through several packs of them.

The sizzling bacon and fried eggs of the classic English cooked breakfast won a competition today to find a new flavour of potato chip.
Emma Rushin, a 27-year-old trainee midwife, dreamed up the concoction, calling it Builder’s Breakfast after the cholesterol-heavy meal which is still the favourite start of the day for manual workers across Britain.
She won the £50,000 ($101,400) first prize in a competition run by crisp manufacturer Walkers and will see her flavour go into mass production.
Her blend of bacon, buttered toast, eggs and tomato sauce received more than 232,000 votes of more than one million cast by the public, putting it ahead of flavours like Onion Bhaji, Cajun Squirrel and even Chilli and Chocolate.
The shortlist of new flavours were produced in limited numbers to allow people to sample them and cast their vote.
Ms Rushin, a mother of two, said she was “thrilled”.
She said: “Tensions were high especially towards the end of campaigning – I really had no idea what way the public vote would go.
“I’m so proud to have my flavour crisps continue to be on sale across the UK and Ireland. It’ll be fun to see people buying them with their lunch or snacking on them on their way home from work.
“I am ever so grateful for the public’s support and all their votes. It’s wonderful to know so many people love Builder’s Breakfast too.”
Award-winning chef Heston Blumenthal and former England striker Gary Lineker announced the winner in a ceremony in London.
Blumenthal, who serves bacon and egg ice cream in his Michelin-starred Fat Duck restaurant, said: “Our tastebuds are changing and developing, as new flavours and foods become readily available in the UK and Ireland.”

Wow i’m in awe of you …i’m struggling to eat three!!!
It’s a con really. 6 of the pieces are Wings. Usually reserved for the ghetto’s and such, until “Buffalo wings” made it trendy to eat them. Hardly a mouthful on a wing.
There are 6 drumsticks, they are only 2 mouthfuls big. Only the breast bits are a decent size.

No problem!!!
I once ate a 20 piece Kentucky Fried Chicken bucket.

I believe the favourite crisps in China are Cool Cucumber, Crisp Hokkaido Seaweed, and Fresh Lemon

I hope that they are being cooked in true Pykie fashion as well, baked in clay over a campfire of stolen pallets, liberally soaked in the contents of diesel filched from the local lorry park, or is that hedgehog.
If Walkers want some wierd flavours, perhaps they should consult with Heston Blumenthal, some of the menus for his up and coming ‘Historical Feasts’ series sound quite exhilarating. How about Roman Trojan Hog flavour, a pig stuffed with sausages, frogs and a dwarf, seriously!!!
Better not hang around the Leicester area if you are of less than average height, or have a green tinge and swim a lot.
No problem!!!
I once ate a 20 piece Kentucky Fried Chicken bucket. So a pig is no problem (Unless it’s one of those 20 foot long factory bred things). On the same day as the 20pc KFC, I had a McShyte for breakfast. That evening, it was like a 12 inch slug.:o

I just hope Walkers are being environmentally aware and using grey squirrels, and not our local red ones.
Be lucky

Oh yeah! I remember the cheese walkers as well. They were good.

I remember Walkers did toasted cheese a few years back they were great IMHO. Cant understand why they withdrew them.

I live on chilli dogs and Root Beer when i’m in the US!!!
By: old shape - 25th February 2009 at 23:11
pete, i had to chuckle to myself about the famous HERSHEY BAR ,my old mate jack used to say to me “Nipper bl***y yanks, yer could hear em and smell em cumming for miles. With their big gobs, perfume and cigarettes and as for their bl***y lousy chocolate”:D
Not a man to mince his words our jack.
Agreed, it tastes like the cheapest Russian chocolate…..hardly a cocoa bean in it. (Their decent stuff is lush btw!)
Same as those dog biscuits, Orios. Kwiksave own brand stuff is better.
On a positive note, Texas jelly beans are a must (Like Texas “Not even the whole USA is bigger n Texas boy!”) these beans are massive!
And, Root beer. I love it.
And, steaks made from a real steer (Not the factory produced cows we have here). Big as a surfboard, cooked rare. “Pull the legs off and wipe its ar**”
Mouthgasmic!
Lots of other US foodstuff is fantastic, but the Orio and Hershey…..no thanks.
