Old Photos

The first one is Dutch Naval P2V-7B Neptune ‘214’ (726-7269), which flew with the Dutch Navy (321 Sqn) between 2-3-1962 and 21-5-1981, it was then scrapped. Between 1963 and 1966 these aircraft were modified to SP-2H specifications. This particular aircraft suffered an undercarriage failure and subsequent (planned) belly landing at RNAS Valkenburg on 13 January 1977. It was flying again 3 months later.

Foud these three when clearing out an office.

The only one I know is the Channel Express Herald G-ATDS.
Any info on the others gratefully received.

Looks like a B-29 / Washington B.1 in the first shot, I was wondering at first if the pics are of Hemswell? However both Lincolns & Washingtons were based at Waddington.
Ideally a date should give a way an RAF station with that many Lincolns on it.

Sadly no dates are given on any of the photos,

hi credible sport, great photos especially of the comets. do you have a lot of pictures of old transport aircraft? Especially during the fifties and sixties [such as Hastings etc?]

Credible Sport, thanks for sharing the photos with us, especialy the Shackletons, which I have a very soft spot for.

Lovely shots again, YU was the Comet that after tests revealed the weakness in the pressure cabin responsible for the loss of YP.

I think most modern flat bed scanners will scan slides and negatives.

My older flatbed scanner scans everything, negs. slides, prints etc but is playing up so I have started to look around for a replacement, after looking throughout Currys, Tescos, and PC World I was gutted that you can’t seem to get combined flatbed scanners anymore – a very retrograde move:mad:

Fyi, the above pictured Comet is mentioned on wikipedia as being involved in the pressurisation tests post the early in flight break up accidents….

More, this time a Comet. I am pretty certain that these photos were taken in Ceylon. I don’t know which airfield it is. The year would be Late 1951, 1952 or 1953.
