Well race fans, time for some New Yearโs resolutions. As I will be in the Popham area in March Iโve decided that a flight in the Rearwin would be just the thing. Of course, knowing Melvcock he will still be fidgeting with this and that, doing endless taxi test, running up and down the runway just asking for an accident. Anything except flying the silly thing. Well, come the 5th of March the Rearwin will fly. I may be making its FIRST flight, but the Rearwin will fly. Has anyone got a seat cushion to help me reach the rudder peddles?
Oh, and youโre all invited out for coffee and slagging after.

It was a cracking weekend, despite many attempts to raise the tone of conversation we kept it well and truly where it was meant to be.
Yes Martin.
At one point we needed a spade to dig a trench to lower the conversation further.
Has anyone got a picture of the Luscombe that you went off in?
Cheers
Andy

I’ll email some through when I get home tonight.

You know who you are.
I know who I am at least. I’m the one who ran off with the car keys.
I was most disappointed not to find any photos of cones when I got back.

Hi
Mr and Mrs Patterson flew out at noon today.
You’ve got twelve hours to say what you want about him.
Good all round trip I thought.
Thanks to all who helped.
You know who you are.
Andy
PS Melv, are you planning on starting a harem of married women now?
I suppose it’s a sufficiently different hobby from Rearwin restoration (a change being as good as rest and all that) but somewhat more expensive!

You mean you didn’t fly? Wimp! ๐
Nice pitot cover.
Message to the clique who made it down there: Bloody brilliant show chaps! Gutted I couldn’t make it. Thanks to the S.O. for standing in for me on ribbon cutting duties. The ribbon looked more vermillion than red.
Blue Nun! Quality!

What a magnificent museum board Robbo.
Melvis’s aeroplane looks alright too.

This indeed is excellent news! Sincere congratulations Melv although it is a shame that the inaugural flight had to be postponed and I am sorry to have missed the day – Basingrad and its environs are a quite a distance for me. I feel a bit like an expectant father, waiting for so long for the big day and then the event doesn’t happen! No doubt you will know when the time is right and I wish you well for then.

Congratualtions on a lovely job and the green light!
Will you and it be attending the GVFWE at Hullavington in May? If so, there should be a John C about in a not quite sober state celebrating the completion of G AMPY (which should be transporting the volunteers there).

Just a note to say thanks for all the kind words and to the conspirators that came up with the museum stuff. It was a lot of fun.
Last night we performed a civic duty.
After a few weeks of time spent mostly with forum members, we met up with Steve last night at the Sheraton Heathrow for a slagging debrief.
With Allison’s help we started with some serious and energetic slagging and over the course of the evening we lowered the intensity, until by 11 oclock he was almost talking like an American again.
It was a tough job but the application of some chemical called “Shah D’Honey” seemed to work and he lost that manic glint in his eye.
Mrs Patty is nice too. I know she wants me though . . . .

Looks like a good time was had by all, despite the non-flying part.
She looks good, Melv, a credit to you – hopefully she’s airborne soon enough. ๐

Melyvn, as said before on this post, the aircraft is stunning and no doubt will gather much more praise in time.
I’d agree. And unlike it’s owner who’s lucky to get any praise and is generally just stunned, rather than stunning.

It was a fun morning and good to put a few faces to some familiar forum names.

Besides, there’s enough wannabe Cloudster pilots already, without encouraging them!
Seriously, Coanda – neat idea though.

looks like a brill day!
would lake to take a shot at this in a flightsim, would you be ableto supply a 3-view or drawing of some sort, and perhaps some expert info so that I could give it a shot??
Thanks but I don’t have flight sim and it won’t run on a mac.
Thanks anyhow.

Hi Neil, Melv,
Steve was given some disinformation about licences by a couple of wiley Aussies to stop him attempting to try out all the airplanes he could get his mitts on. Being a trusting Yank, he believed us. Well, sort of. Leastways we only had to pull the gun to get him out of the P-40.

Melv, you can fly a G-reg on a foreign licence.
Have fun
Neil
Just repeating what Steve told me. He said you cannot go solo on an N licence. Not looked into it myself.
He was too short anyhow.
