There are many reasons to love the US – it is such a vast country with lots of beautiful stunning scenery. The people I’ve met there have been genuinely friendly and helpful, especially when they find out you’re a Brit (the number of people I used to meet who told me of holidays they’d had in Britain, how they love our Queen, etc). I like the American people and I’m proud to say so.
Keltic gave many good reasons, I agree about George Gershwin – superb composer and very talented. The food is superb – I had never heard of mahi-mahi (I think I spelled it right) fish before I went to Hawaii and a couple of New Zealanders recommended it, it is superb and everyone should try it. Also I had the best jacket potato ever at a Mexican stall in the Beverly Center in LA, a huge one filled with hot melted cheese, so hot it melted the carton they’d served it in. The orange juice is superb – really thick with bits of fruit pulp. I adore bagels and cream cheese for breakfast. The only thing I didn’t like in America was the tea – really weak and served in huge cups.

.

The only immediate neighbour who has tried to defeat Iraq was Iran , 1,600,000 dead on each side led to a mutual ceasefire and left Iraqs economy wrecked , Iraq has six bordering neighbours five of which are actually backing the Coalition’s goal to remove Saddam , the other is playing stalemate until they are guaranteed more WB Loans and US financial / humanitarian aid.
Fidel Castro has less than 1% of the total no of German troops as of the 3rd of Sept 1939 and spends less than 3% of his GNP on his military forces . Even he realises the futility of even being actively hostile against the USA , so has never attacked the USA – so any comparison against a dictator who tried to invade most of mainland Europe is nonsense.
Saddam on the other hand has tried to invade 2 of his neighbouring countries , Iran and Kuwait , has been smuggling oil out regardless of any sanctions , not to raise money for his hospitals , schools etc , but trading for military items and products he can use to manufacture Chemical weapons with , he actively sponsors and harbours terrorists , gives money to the families of suicide bombers in Israel . Saddam is a Cancer in the Arabic world , time to cut him out of the picture.

Plenty of things – writers, musicians, people, big portions, ketchup, jeans, an open and friendly society, lots of intelligent people to have interesting conversations with, even more dumb people to have fun with…

But coffee is not American. It’s Arab, the first recorded history of drinking coffee is in Yemen. You can easily tell the difference between an Arab and an American (well, both seem to enjoy dwelling in deserts carrying guns) by their coffee: an American cup is bucket-sized and so weak you can see through the coffee straight down to the bottom of the bucket. An Arab cup of coffee is very small, and so strong that you can’t see through it even if you have a drop on a teaspoon.

More things about Europe…

1. Bill Gates is not from there. If you use Windows, you know what I mean 😀

2. Guderian. The man is a tactical genius and his books make very interesting reading.

3. Plato, Aristotle, and Socrates.

4. Alexander the Great. Or, how to take over the known world before you’re 30.

5. Duh people, Key Magazines and these forums!

If you call a country of nearly 430,000 sq km small then you are technically correct , but considering the same country borders 6 other countries and has a KNOWN chemical and biological warfare capability it would have been nice to hear some backup from mainland Europe.
With the benefit of foresight , if certain countries in Europe had known in 1936 what Adolf Hitler was going to do would they have pre-empted him or sat on their asses.

First things first, Sean; the ancient egiptians invented beer.

Ok, firstly, the North Americans among you have been rubbish at naming things you like about Europe. Anyway, in order to show you up I thought I’d write a list of things I love about the USA.

Pepperoni Pizza (i.e. with sausage),
bagels,
southern accents,
NY,
surfing,
cars (1950s to 1980s),
SR-71,
wild west/frontier history,
native americans (although, admittedly you did try to get rid of those),
jazz,
blues,
rock and roll,
rock,
hip-hop,
nirvana,
lucky strikes,
chewing gum,
coca cola,
variety,
choice,
grand canyon,
the rockies,
liberal gun ownership,
some excellent films,
some excellent television progs,
the prarie,
the simpsons
bloody hell, I could go on all day…

]Teen’s dying wish for Cameron Diaz blow job not granted

Morten imagines Diaz (inset)

PHILADELPHIA, Monday: The parents of 15-year-old leukaemia patient Josh Morten, who last night passed away after a four year battle with the illness, said they were sorry not to have fulfilled his dying wish to get a blow job from Cameron Diaz.

The courageous teenager told his family two months ago that the one thing he’d really like before he died was to be sucked off by the successful Hollywood actress and former model.

“Josh never asked for much,” his father confided. “He never complained about his illness, or made unrealistic demands. So when he requested fellatio from the star of Charlie’s Angels and There’s Something About Mary we thought, sure, that’s the least we can do for him.”

But attempts to grant Josh his dying wish proved much more difficult than the family had initially thought. Formal requests inviting the star to perform oral sex on their dying son were repeatedly declined.
“We wrote, we rang, we faxed,” Mr Morten explained. “And every time it was the same answer: ‘Sorry, Ms Diaz is currently unable to comply with your request.’ I mean, how unsympathetic can you get? We’re talking about a dying kid here! Would it kill her?”

Mr Morten even made a special trip to Los Angeles, to try to talk to the movie star personally outside the premiere of Gangs of New York. “The crowds were ten deep,” he said, “and I’m there yelling out to her from the back: ‘Will you go down on my son please!’, but she didn’t want to know.”

With hopes diminishing by the day, Mr Morten placed similar standby requests with the agents representing Catherine Zeta Jones, Jennifer Lopez and Salma Hayek, but in each case the stars refused to co-operate.

“Who do they think they are, these women!” railed Mr Morten. “They earn millions of dollars and swan about at fancy parties, but when they get a simple request to bring a smile to a young boy far less fortunate than them, they turn their back on you. What kind of world do we live in when a dying teenager can no longer get his **** sucked by a celebrity?”
