Hi
For anyone who has not looked at Flypast the Sea Vixen is to stay in the Red Bull paint job for 2004 🙂
Looks like this could become a long term thing 🙂

There was a story posted on Facebook a couple of weeks ago that the Vixen was due to fly, then later that it didn’t fly because the pilot was stuck in traffic, only for us to be told later that there had been no intention to fly that day, as the aircraft’s paperwork had yet to be signed off by the CAA. Most bizarre!

Mike, you say the Facebook page could be an unofficial fanpage, but surely it’s run by the company if the engineer who posts here (Credible Sport) is effectively saying he’s been gagged and Facebook is the only way of getting information now?
Whoever it is, they definitely seem to have some inside information, but also are prone to posting a lot of misinformation too. I notice on some other sites that Shoreham have vehemently denied any Sea Vixen booking for their airshow.

I get the feeling that the Facebook page is an unofficial ‘fan’ page.
They do seem somewhat challenged when it comes to PR

Sea Vixen displays at Shoreham Airshow, Bournemouth and Jersey were listed on the Farcebook page yesterday, but seem to have disappeared now.
All very odd.

The Sea Vixen flew along the beach at Bournemouth this evening about 17.00. I was on the Eastcliff she made a slow pass west to east waving its wings. Georgous sight in the evening sunshine.

the vixen has spent most of this week parked on our maintenance area ( 702 nas) so have had a good spotting week watching her come and go, was interesting to watch the reaction of our young lads to this still futuristic old girl strut her stuff, also the ad4n skyraider spent the week parked up near us,if shes not wanted i will give her a good home!:D

Very sorry to hear that CS. You’ve seemed a far more reliable source than that farcebook page has been tbh.
Thanks for the all the info you’ve given up to now, and all the best.

Saw the Vixen going back and forth between Hurn and Yeovilton today so any further news on how the display workup went and Matt’s DA? 🙂
Cheers.

Hurn, who’s a lucky gardener then?
“Crikey! Whazzat???”
Ah, not much, just a Sea Vixen over the garden. Get ’em coming over now and then.
Ho Hum.

Oh, that’s good old youtoob processing speeding it up at around the 15s mark if that’s what you mean, although it doesn’t seem to do it every time, and he did actually swing round at the end of the runway pretty sharpish. 🙂

Hi Hurn,
I second what Trolly Aux has said :eagerness: can I ask was the taxi actual real time or speeded up I never knew it taxied so fast ? that plus it looks like it was drifting as it turned by the tyre marks on the apron turning bay. :highly_amused:

Here’s a bit of video of the mighty beast taking-off from Hurn this afternoon to transit to Yeovilton.
Hope you enjoy, and please forgive a bit of camera wobble.

So why is there only Matt? We know Simon won’t fly her again but what about Dan Griffith??? His displays in her were by far the best!!! Will never forget the entrance to Duxford for her 1st display!!!

Many thanks for the clarification CS.
I certainly thought it was very doubtful he’d be able to display fly soon, so was rather taken aback by the facebook announcement of a Saturday display.
Hope it all goes well with the work up next week.

Hurn
As I understand it Matt will (hopefully) get his display authority next week. So static only at Yeovilton.
You have to remember that he has a day job flying for the army, wife & kids to look after and flying the Sea Vixen in his spare time!!
