AN R/C 1/6th scale model of a 109. A 65 inch wing span, air retracts, four stroke glow motor approx 15cc (satio 75 for those in the know) weigh’s8.5 lbs. (The prop is a dummy one for display ony….the flying one is much smaller)

Gawd it’s years since I built a kit. I used to have loads of them too, both military and commercial. Now it’s just my trusty 1:400 die cast collection. Here’s a couple of the more “historic” models I own.
Any clues as to where the airline represented by the Electra comes from ? 😉

These are two of my latest projects…
The Mustang is a Cambrian ‘Fun Fighter’ kit, fairly comprhensively re-designed to lighten it for an electric motor replacing the I/C one. Electric models tend to need to be lighter, and as they do not suffer the same degree of vibration, the structure can be a little less substantial. Most of the heavy ply in the fuselage was replaced with a lighter balsa structure. The colour scheme seems particularly appropriate with the current Memphis Belle ‘cast’ thread! 🙂 (PS It hasn’t flown yet, it is awaiting a significant improvement in my piloting skills before I risk it :rolleyes: )
The ‘sort of Piper Cub thing’ has survived much of this learning to fly process. It is currenly awaiting a major rebuild after a hand launch went horribly wrong 🙁 , the resulting model will be the modelling equivalent of a ‘data plate’ restoration 😀

My two Spits shown here (I have a Mk. V and a Mk.II in the collection) are two ICM 1/48 kits.
Got 16 ICM kits in the stash!

Blimey, no. Harold the Helicopter is there by right. But thereby hangs a tale. My dad knew the Rev Audrey, author of the Railway stories very well – Audrey was a model railway fan and the stories were originally bedtime stories for his children, based on his own railway set. Which, as a kid I was allowed to play with. So I knew the real Thomas the Tank Engine! I loved the stories too as a kid, and still like their gentle reminder of a time long gone. So Harold has an honoured place in my collection!!!
Oh, that’s okay then :rolleyes: For a minute I thought we had a kindergarden thread going here! Actually, I have a photo of my son taken with the Rev Audrey several years ago at a model railway exhibition, so I know all about ‘Harold’.

I should maybe also add that the Tiger piloting Teddy was added by Herself, and in the interests of domestic bliss….
